Thanks for the debate all. Got to go now. Family hopefully expanding in the next few hours. It has kept me entertained whilst waiting.

I hope no one took any offence as it wasn't meant. I could have worded my post slightly better but hey I'm new to this.

More important things than cars.

Take care
Congrats and good luck.

For a lot of the reasons mentioned in this thread, it is probably fair to say that the majority of Porsche drivers are unlikely to be car people.
Are you kidding, seriously, wow.

I'd have a Sagaris over pretty much any modern Porsche.

Rather have a car that is gorgeous, rare and goes like stink than a car that still looks somewhat like a beetle and is as common as muck.

The amount of praise/respect for these cars is really quite amazing. I could be sat behind/infront 50-100k value of car and the pedestrians can be seen/heard and pointing and saying TVR...

It still amazes me that somehow the young kids seem to know the brand TVR,many times 10-14 yr olds lads shouting with joy as you pass,or saying hey Mum "TVR". And not just the lads, driving through Stratford Upon Avon waiting at traffic lights two 12-14yr old girls even pointed and the one girl turns to the other and says " That's a TVR I luv em"

If you have not been out in a TVR then if you ever get the chance I would recommend having a passenger ride through a built up pedestrian area and see the response.

Honestly..... it still amazes me what positive reaction they get out in the open, pub talk is not so good laugh

Back on topic only owned one Porsche a 944 back in year 94 and don't recall any nasty stuff being said.

Strange that I would rather own a 944 in the year 2015 than back when I had it in 1994... Grown on me more over the years and strangely I thought I never had a photo of it,but searching through some old photos I've found some. Brought back some nice memories and still can't think of any negative vibes or disapproval when I had it.
So what you're saying is that the TVR is perfect for picking up children? I thought that was reserved for rusty old transits wink

Caterhams > TVR for public love. Young, old, everyone loves them.

I don't think young people know what a TVR is. Outside of petrol head forums, they think it's a kit car.

Only joking.;) It is nice that youngsters recognize the cars and don't just know the default German tat. My son hopes that when he can drive he will have a Jaguar. He's 9 so I have taught him well so far. Getting the youngsters into these type of cars is great. A charity just down the road from me does a lot of rides for youngsters (Sporting bears)

Definitly noticed a lot of negative sentiment from other road users when I had my Boxster (even had a white van driver spit into it). Complete opposite to the reaction now I'm in the Sagaris. OP, get a better car.

Nope, I'd have thought this before I got mine but kids a) love it and b) know what it is. Often hear a son telling his Dad what it is. They definitely get a more positive reaction on the road than most things, I think it's because they look and sound so crazy/awesome compared to another £50-£60k car and because it's British.

I only ever have issues with white goods VAG cars and Porsche owners in the DB9.

The Porsche owners are desperate to prove something.

I think that most people have issues with drivers of VAG cars. They are mostly all aggressive w@nkers.

I'm not sure what it is. Whether it's that they're constantly stressed out paying their credit cards or what but they just tend to be overly angry with something to prove in their 14 plate car.
