Nobody likes Porsche Drivers?

To be honest the majority of Porsche drivers that I come across on my commute have a tendency to be the most pleasant, least aggressive drivers I share the road with. As for not being able to see past 4x4's? It's not limited to Porsche vehicles, in the Rover I can't see past/through the majority of modern cars let alone anything bigger, amusing in some ways, pulling up at a roundabout and I can barely see into the cabin of the car next to me, doesn't stop me from letting out vehicles though (when safe and common sense dictates).
To be honest in a Caterham, even being behind a mini has a the same effect on the view forward, as a typical 4x4 SUV, people carrier, does on `normal' road cars, But in Caterham getting past them, if even only small opportunities present themselves is not generally a problem.
I often wondered what manufacturers of the supercars thought about Caterhams, where they had spent millions and in some cases possibly billions of pounds, to develop and make their super / hypercars a really fast machine, when another manufacturer, can turn out a car built from the parts bins of mainstream manufacturers, which can get to within just a few seconds of the very best that they can produce, and still make it generally affordable, and accessible to a much larger proportion of the motoring public. To me that is quite a remarkable thing to do.

Yes, I think there is a practical reason why people tend not to let SUV`s / people carrier type vehicles etc, regardless of the make, out in front of them, in that if they do, they just present a large expanse of boring metal to look at, instead of a view of the road ahead. Also many such vehicles are generally not as quite as quick off the mark as a normal saloon, which means there is the potential for these vehicles to impede the progress, of those behind. (even if it is just that they block the view ahead so comprehensively, they also reduce the possibility of checking the road ahead for a safe overtake.
That may be part of it but in reality the XC90 is no bigger than the van based people carrier we had before and is vastly faster(4.4 V8)My wife has commented that people don't let her out of junctions and are generally less friendly towards her when she drives our XC90

I am sure that is the case, but I suspect that it is just the `perception' that a 4z4, people carrier, SUV etc, is going to be slow (or driven slowly, even if it is not slow) is what makes many drivers reluctant to let one out in front of them.

If it is a diesel, it definitely isn't a Porsche!
Yup its Tourag with diff clothes on and I cant see anyone looking at it and being jealous, I was expecting to get abuse and hassle when I got my 911 Turbo BUT have had nothing but +ve comments etc and always let out at junctions etc but I do try NOT to appear to be pushing in/expecting to be let out etc, normally end up chatting in Petrol stations etc and all round have a great experience driving it. Also dont get any stick in my L322 RR so maybe the OP manages to drive 'with an attitude'If it is a diesel, it definitely isn't a Porsche!

I used to think that given the common underpinnings. I have experience with this..two Touareg V8s prior to the Cayenne. I still prefer the Touareg interior,but much prefer the Cayenne V8. From a handling point of view there is nothing in it at low speeds but running hard the Cayenne is significantly tighter. (I have run both cars flat out). However,the reason I moved to the Cayenne was that I could not get a Touareg V8 at the time and I needed the towing ability. Otherwise,although the Cayenne is undoubtedly better,it probably does not justify the premium. Mr10secs said:

Not the case though. Most Caterhams are driven by portly old men who are desperate to be seen as quirky. Really, I get the same in my 911 everything tries to race/overtake so they can say they beat a Porsche but having driven a DB9 a few times Ive never had anyone try and race it, must say though it was the biggest disappointment of my car driving history (they say you should never meet your hero's) 37,000 miles and what a piece of tat, rust everywhere and wind noise from windows and much slower than I imagined, as the owner said, 'its a great car to be seen getting out of' !!!!! When he drove my 911 he just got out and said OMG !!!!The Porsche owners are desperate to prove something.

Well now that I've looked at your profile I'll backtrack that statement directed at you then So you must be well aware of the difference jumping from a car with every driving aid possible (911 Turbo) to cars that have a steering wheel and a manual gearbox then
The fear of heading the other direction when your not expecting it is why we like to drive these types of cars.
