Nobody likes Porsche Drivers?

to be a little scientific about this... i'm the same person in the same clothes driving different cars. If i'm in the Morgan i get nothing but appreciation, even from the Gendarmes who stopped me for being 40 over the limit. just love all around! I'm torn whether to keep this car as it's more an event than a 'proper' driver's car, but the lack of hassle and joy i have when touring means it has a useful role.
Also, being very judgemental myself, i don't see many new Porches being driven by (what i think are) petrolheads.

How can you tell who is a petrolhead? Do they look a particular way?
I don't particularly like the driver of the silver 911 turbo coming the other way to me near Thrapston the other day!
He started overtaking while I was still next to him, and how he never hit me I'll never know, our mirrors near enough touched.
He also over took in a ridiculous place where there was hardly a gap for him to get back in to, especially considering there was a car not far behind me.
I just hope if he manages to kill or injure himself it doesn't involve an innocent party.

as i said myself, i went from scientific to judgemental! But to be serious, i'll stick by my suspicions based on observing friends/acquaintances and others whose behaviour i can observe for a short while.
No, you cannot just look at someone and immediately judge petrolhead or not.

My mate just bought a Boxster and he said it's amazing how many wker signs and verbal abuse he's had since getting it. He said he never got anything like this in his Elise. Same happened when he hired a 360 spyder for a weekend when it was his wedding, wker seemed to be the favourite word in Essex that weekend.

Air cooled is different ;-)i think the reaction to any pre-1989 911 is mostly positive. The upright headlamps and the (small) size of the car help the man in the street spot a classic. The 993 however, while lovely, is still quite modern for many people and may still provoke the vinegar wave.

Quite. I have a pair of Porsche shoes, with a Porsche badge and nobody lets me out of doorways.But at least I know I am better than the knobheads who don't have a pair Porsche shoes.

I don't think it's a Porsche thing, my 'Poverty Pork' style 986 hasn't attracted any bad reactions or behaviour (with the exception of one muppet in a manky 20 year old Hyundai who for some reason saw fit to wind the window down and yell C**T at the top of his voice as he went past whilst I waited in to turn right from a main road- some people are just strange..)
