Although not on your list in your position I'd go and look at a TVR Chimaera. Look at it, sit in it, hear it start, take the roof off and go for a drive. They can be quite persuasive.
Good suggestion, my father has always owned TVR's, i grew up around Chimaera's and Cerebra's etc, but unfortunately i need a semi commuter! - P.s as i'm not great at posting, how do i quote multiple people in one post? I feel rude not replying to everybody!**

This is more what i'm leaning to at the moment, i never thought i would like an MB, and my mates seem to think i've got female genatalia for liking it. But 5.5 secs 0-62, and about a £9k price tag, seems quite good to me?
also they're less likely to call you a homosapien after you take them round a few country lanes with the V6 roaring haha
The varioroof is also really reliable if you fancy a fair bit of drop top driving.
I'd seriously recommend checking out the SLK forum if you're considering one, lots of advice and things to look for etc. SLKWorld
Not sure if linking to other sites is allowed here but if not please edit this out mods?

Thanks for the advice, i have seen them in Black, and i agree they do look more aggressive! Do you know much about the 7G gearbox? I'm guessing it works as a semi-auto with either paddles or buttons? Are the gearboxes reliable? As i know how much the SMG's are to replace if they go!
Not sure if it's the same auto as the R172 but I've got the 7 speed and it's nice, and in the R171 you can leave it in "full" manual or sport mode and it will stay in that mode when you start it up again so in theory you could always drive it "manually" all it does is auto shift when you're at the red line, it will hold gear at nearly max revs in manual mode.I'm not sure how reliable the 7g is though as I bought mine fairly new so didn't really consider as I don't plan on taking it over 50k miles before I sell it so think it's safe to not worry about.
Personally I enjoy the paddle shifting, I normally leave it in comfort/economy until I get to a nice bit of road and then slap it in sport or manual and use the paddles. Even in sport it doesn't shift until quite high revs.
Honestly after driving one for a while (same autobox as the C class) I don't miss having a manual stick. I've had a couple of MX-5 manuals and the paddle shifting is no worse, handling isn't that much worse either considering the MX-5 weighs considerably less with the soft top compared to the folding hard top of the SLK.

Too bad you cant afford an M135I. It would tick all your boxes, and is described as by top gear as an 'JUNIOR SUPERCAR'.
LOL. It was described by some tosser here as a junior supercar too just before his feelings were hurt and he left. Around the same time someone described a Golf R as a supercar with a hatchback. Both are just warmed up ugly shopping cars.I'd back the Chimaera too by the way. It's perfectly commutable - easily moreso than an Elise or VX220 and I'd happily drive to work in one of those too. A Chimaera is also going up in value.
For all that though it sounds like you want a Boxster or that Mercedes and you're really leaning far more heavily towards 'daily driver' than 'sportscar' than your opening post might suggest. Always buy what you actually want.

I see you signed up to PH today. Is it so you can piss everyone off? An M135 is no sportscar.
You obviously don't know what you're talking about. A M135i NOT A SPORTS CAR? LOL NEXT JOKE.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
