I'd back the Chimaera too by the way. It's perfectly commutable - easily moreso than an Elise or VX220 and I'd happily drive to work in one of those too. A Chimaera is also going up in value.

For all that though it sounds like you want a Boxster or that Mercedes and you're really leaning far more heavily towards 'daily driver' than 'sportscar' than your opening post might suggest. Always buy what you actually want.
As i said earlier in the thread, i've grown up with TVR's, My dad bought one of the later 5.0 chimes from new, and it was constantly having problems etc, so maybe thats why i'm leaning away from TVR's?

Not massively keen on the boxster, but everyone says they're great. But seems like they can put a whole in your pocket if they need fixing!

Too bad you cant afford an M135I. It would tick all your boxes, and is described as by top gear as an 'JUNIOR SUPERCAR'.

My best mate has a Chimeara, so does his dad.
Up until recently, my mates was his only car, and was as good as damnit trouble free. His dads did about 400 miles per year. And it broke down every time it left the garage.

This is more what i'm leaning to at the moment, i never thought i would like an MB, and my mates seem to think i've got female genatalia for liking it. But 5.5 secs 0-62, and about a £9k price tag, seems quite good to me?
Nice car but if you are thinking about the 350 read up on balancer shaft issues. Fairly common above 100k miles.

Spend eight or so on a really nice 350Z and a couple of mods, batter is senseless with no worries about breaking it or you mates calling you a girl.

If you asked ANYONE to draw a sports car, 100% of them would not sketch anything vaguely like a BMW 1-series that just happened to have a slightly more powerful engine than all the diesel versions of the same thing.

No need to shout, we can all hear you.

The M135i is actually a junior supercar.

Edited to say I see I was beaten to it.

Can I suggest you keep the trolling to your own joke thread? I think the OP of this one wants to buy a sportscar more than hear some halfwit go on about hatchbacks.

The 135i is a very nice, fast car, now go and take your medication and come back ready to ask and debate rather than tell.

This forum crosses all sections of society, massively enthusiastic owners of £500 MX5's right through to folks with warehouses full of supercars, all petrolheads, all ready with some input and generally, it isnt agressive and confrontational. Just relax and let things unfold, it is pretty amazing if you dont go off on one.

Well I'm talking about the M1 not the normal 135i.

I bought this last year just in your budget, and despite the open diff. I've had plenty of fun with it! The engine is lovely, copes fine with pootling but sounds great when you do get the chance to chase the redline.

Good luck anyway!

I've owned a lot of cars and the 3.0i z4 is right at the top of my list for favourites. Used it to tour the Alps and it was perfect. The lack of a LSD makes no difference in the real world, unless you are planning trackdays. Fantastic cars. smile

Out of interest, would it be possible to fit an LSD if you wanted, a Quaife or similar?

I guess it's possible but I never felt it needed it tbh.

Yeah for sure, and they are not that expensive to install. I highly recommend lsd for 200hp+ sports car.
