Would be perfect with some steel wheels and 3 plastic hubcaps (an old sierra needs to have one missing).

I like it because it's subtle in appearance, punishing the assumptions of others. Keeping the lid on its exhaust note could be a problem though. The sauced-up heap has to keep pace with the gleaming monster from the lights just enough to make the latter's owner question himself and think about taking his car in to be checked out at the local dealership. Just enough to make the latter wince slightly. It's the automotive equivalent of gaslighting. I like that.

Wenny's Mk3 Escort ran steel wheels which helped with the deception.... until people knew it

One could probably make more power and make it more subtle sound-wise with a flat-plane-crank engine...

Does it actually say how much power the existing lump is supposed to put out?

Could probably hazard a guess at Jacko's query then.

What flat plane v8 would be affordable and make more hp? Or fit for that matter. Dohc v8's tend to be bulky.

Or sound subtle...AJP V8? One of the least-subtle sounding engines ever.

What affordable flat plane crank V8 is going to make power than a small block Ford V8.......??

Couldn't one just stick a 180-degree crank in the Ford small-block? I'm sure that's what a lot of hot-rodders have done for yonks.

Not aware of any aftermarket flat plane crank conversions for a small block Ford, can't think there would be any demand.....?
In 30+ years of dabbling in the hot rod scene, I've never heard or read about any hot rodder doing such a thing. I think you maybe getting confused with something else although I can't quite think what it might be......?

Have you seen the header arrangement for a 180 degree motor? You certainly don't just 'stick one in'.

Be easier to source a new Mustang flat plane V8 if it bothered you that much
Not as cheap as the existing one though at present I'd guess

The novelty of it being a wolf in sheep clothing would wear off quite quickly for me, having to sit there in a jelly mould waiting to show up a hot hatch back occasionally.

How hard is it to get new headers then? I've even heard of a standard cross-plane-crank being given a flat-plane noise simply via a set of custom headers. As for fitting a flat-plane Mustang engine - there's no such thing, they're cross-plane...

nono

The brand new (6th) generation Mustang GT350 uses a 315ci flat-plane crank version (called Voodoo) of the Coyote modular V8.

Yep, that's the one I was referring to yes

It wouldn't be a cheap engine presently though

The car would be best enjoyed as is if you're after something for 5k ( or 8k as it is now! )

The GT350 videos I've seen show that it's clearly a cross-plane, making traditional V8 thunder. If it was a flat-plane, it'd make a tedious flat drone like a Ferrari 458 does.
