Am I being unreasonable? Shoddy smart repair by BMW
Discussion
Given the age of the car I think some people would not even have been bothered about the scuffs. Others would ask for them to be repaired and be quite happy with the work done. You clearly fall into a third camp though which is not being happy with the work; personally, I think this is fair enough. Talk to the dealer and I'd expect them to sort things out for you.

Shocking isn't it, and these were all paid for jobs, here, have some more, wheels this time.
As the owner of a Smart repair and Wheel repair company it amazes me what people try to get away with.
Those wheels take the biscuit, assuming they have been given to you to fix somebody else's poor workmanship (if you can call it that!)?As the owner of a Smart repair and Wheel repair company it amazes me what people try to get away with.
Out of curiosity, what do you make of the pictures I posted? There seems to be a mixture of views, from people who couldn't give two hoots to those who can see my point! In my view, as a 17k used car direct from BMW, they should be scrutinising the work of their suppliers, especially when they promised it would be fixed as a condition of the sale. It's not as bad as the pictures you have posted but it is still a bodge job! Bit different if it was a clapped out banger from Clives Cwality Car Co

I have to say, I struggled to see the issue in the OP's pictures. It's more down to their quality though - the poor colour match (which I assume is what he's pointing at?) could easily be attributed to the angles of the picture vs the lines of the car and the lighting.
Assuming it isnt a reflection from the gravel, there is fairly obvious line (probably) because masking tape has been used and the paint shade on the repair looks a bit more 'brown'.Doodlebug87 said:
Smarts repairs can always be detected and are never as good as having a panel/bumper whatever sprayed properly.
However, judging by the pictures and assuming that they are a fair relection of what they look like in the "metal" if the smart repair guy I used did a job like that even at "trade" rates I wouldn't be that happy.
It should be possible to get a reasonable, if not perfect, colour match even on silver and that looks just plain wrong colour.

I could have done (and have done) better paintwork than that on the drive with a rattle can and some masking tape. On cars worth £700, not £17,000.
Talk to the dealer. I'm sure they will be accommodating. Not acceptable on a £17k car IMHO.
My issue would also be with the impact on saleability when you come to move it on. As a buyer, if I spot an obvious bad repair on a car, it not only makes me wonder how extensive the damage was (and I assume worse than a small parking scrape), but whether there's stuff under the skin that's been repaired poorly or on the cheap too.

I bought a Titanium Silver E91 that was 5yrs old from Statstones, the drivers door was dented the tail gate had a scratch and the wheel arch was scuffed, plus an alloy was badly curbed. All this work was noted on the finance agreement and it was agreed that all this work would be done before it was delivered. 30seconds after it arrived on my drive i was on the phone to the sales manager as the wheel had runs in the paint the door looked like someone had attacked it from the inside with a nail plus the window trim hadn't been replaced, this had rust bubbles. He couldn't give a st. This is the problem with distance buying.
After its first wash the damage to the wheel arch reappeared, eventually i had to take it to another Stratstones to get the work done. I will never buy a car from them again.
op have a look over on BMW general to read about the skip i went to see at another BMW main dealer..And good luck getting it resolved.

There are good smart repairers.
When some scrote with a key had a go at our old Scenic, I got a smart repair done for a fraction of the cost of a full respray. Perfect colour match (metallic blue), and a very good repair. If you looked very closely at the panel with the light catching it just so, you could just about make out where the scratch was. But unless you put your face that close to the panel, you simply couldn't see it.
