Why the split on SUV's?
Discussion
similar discussion about Porsches on another thread, and I posted my reasons there as follows. Personally do not care if people drive a Veyron, a GWhiz or a Prius. We all have our individual tastes.
My Cayenne has 156,000Km on it,with over 50,000km towing a trailer with a car on it, has been off roaded, driven in Canadian winters, run flat out, used as a dog transport and generally abused, so it would qualify in my eyes as a working vehicle….lots of dents on it

The 550///M Sport is considerably cheaper than the cheapest L405, we both know that. You can't compare a current exec saloon to an old RR on price.
I have an L405 vogue SE v8 diesel.I previously owned an F12 M6 and had an F10 535d for a week long business trip in California in spring - lots of driving.
Now whilst I actually prefer the F10 to the F12 M6 as a cruiser - more comfortable and refined, engine smoother for cruising, better ride - the L405 is in a different world to either car. I have owned the L405 a little while now and it still makes me feel a million bucks every time I get in.
It is so far superior to an f10, or f12 m6 for that matter, as a luxury vehicle you cannot even begin to make a comparison. BMW have nothing in their line up that gets anywhere near to the L405 for luxury nor off road ability either whilst on the subject of 4x4s!
For me though I bought it as I want the ultimate family luxury car, and a V8 L405 with the right spec cannot be beat, regardless of price, it is an absolute dream to drive. But if you don't want a luxury car, or if you'd rather a convertible or saloon than big family car, I'm sure there are better choices. For my requirements though, the L405 is unmatched and no BMW would get close to being even in the same ballpark.
