Not into private plates. Never have and never will be. However, I happened to be talking to a chap with the initials JCW and he has a 6 digit plate he said I could have cheap if ever I wanted it. I'm not fussed but as I will be selling my JCW MINI next year just wondered if having a JCW plate on it would make it more desirable or anything?

Most likely not, I just wondered.

In my opinion, a private plate that is model specific only works on the model it is specific about. All these cars running around with M5/X5/AMG etc on Fiesta's or Golfs look ridiculous. If it uses initials or is ageless not so bad though I really don't see the point of buying a private plate that uses the current numbering system. If you're going to go the private plate route at least make it obvious.

Some work, some don't. Depends on the plate and the vehicle IMHO.

I have TVR on my TVR, and I have something related to my dogs on the dog car....

I have one on my 205 and I like it but I wouldn't think that it would add value, it's just if it looks good to you.

Mine relates to my occupation rather than my car, which is good because I get more cars than I get tail. And I get a lot of tail!

An Irish plate on a Range Rover makes it very desirable.

Was waiting to see how long it would take before this came up. Not long at all!

I would never pay more for a car just because it has a private plate on, but if it came with the car and I could sell it on then yes it is desirable

Irrational prejudice about the previous owner(s) based on the proportion of numpties on the roads who seem to have private plates. It wouldn't stop me buying a car but I'd rather buy one with a normal plate.
