Off to look / buy an M5 on Friday.

Audi S6??

Quiet, refined generally not thrashed or as highly strung as the RS6.

Audi S6

Also V10 with more power than M5. Newer and nicer interior etc..

Agree RWD might be more fun though, and this example is slightly over budget.

EDIT: Road tax doesn't fit your criteria either.

Road tax wasnt really an issue, I paid £42 a month when I had my Mazda. I did consider the S6, but its actually slower on the move than an M5.

I owned both at the same time, once the S6 is on par in the real world and a little quicker once mapped. Swapped the S6 for a RR two years ago and was a mistake.
