It's the new Kia Sportage, the wheels give it away!

And the same registration number, in one case.

Do they think people really care that much about the shape of a new car that there is a need to disguise it?
Autocar posted something like in the Arab states where they do the hot weather testing, the locals turn up with bags of cash and wont take no for an answer if its an undisguised prototype as they want something that noone else has. Putting bin bags, fancy stickers, etc. means they can use that as an excuse not to sell it (not that they would anyway).

Less of an issue in Europe I imagine but anything that stops a rival getting an early look at what a competitor is up to will be the main reason. Plus it gets people noticing the car.

If you go to Stuttgart then there are always plenty of Mercedes mules driving around and you ignore them after a while. The employees can take them home as long as they promise to do x KM in them and fill out a report when they get back as its all good testing.

Now that it's been revealed, I prefer the camouflaged version. Such a shame, the old one was a looker IMO.

I may be cynical but I think the real purpose of the camouflage is to generate publicity. It worked!

It could be so. But then, surely it's better to drive it around London rather than a small market town?

I'm with the Kia Sportage crowd, certainly looks like one.

Oh this shot above certainly gives the game away. The grill, the wheels. The profile does carry that Kia shape which the Sportage has but it does look a bit larger than the current Sportage.

The mystery has already been solved as the new model details were released a few days ago wink
