How much should one be paying for a 172 Cup?
I've been looking at prices on and off for a few months. I think £2k for a decent one with belts and dephaser done. Less if it's needed but remember to budget for it as its an expensive job.

I would highly recommend it!
So between 2.3 and 2.5k would be over the odds for a 172 cup then?

I wouldn't say so if it's a good one

Thanks Ben! I'm very tempted trust me. Will keep an eye out for you if I do take the plunge.
Good to hear, and I know what you mean with buying all the extra bits for it. If the cost of a track day is putting you off, I got my insurance through Greenlight for £400 and can bolt on track days at £65 each. Out at Spa, I got through 1mm of tread on my tyres and 3/4 of a tank of fuel over five sessions, so pretty cheap to run as a track toy!

I got one at the other end of the scale £1200

I've had to fix up a few things such as cambelt dephaser new clutch sort the airbag lights out, get gear linkage correctly adjusted and now the boot won't unlock.

In hindsight I should of paid more for a sorted car but when I bought it I wasn't even looking to buy a car.

Next job is mot then probably take the old kw coilovers off and go back to stock.

I'll never ever make anything on this car but its such a laugh to drive and so good on petrol.

Brilliant! Love reading things like this. If you're not already on the Clio Trophy forum, get yourself signed up on there and come along to Wales in September for the 10th Anniversary celebration. Should be a pretty special outing! http://www.cliotrophy.co.uk/forum/showthread.php/5...

Yes, going in tomorrow to a place in Preston. Expecting it to be around £600 inc new clutch. Not an ideal situation for me to be in but that's cars for you!

I plan on keeping the car for another couple of years anyway

Let me know if you are going to sell the KW's, I am tired of the lowering springs on mine.

I paid £2900 for my 182 FF, completely stock, relatively low miles, cambelt history (although it needs done again early next year due to time) One of my favourite cars I have owned (owned about 40 cars over the years) It puts a smile on my face every day on the way to work down the B roads.
