... whilst on her mobile.

A woman has been found guilty of killing a cyclist after using her mobile phone while driving.

Julie Watson, 36, deleted a record of the call after she hit Alistair Speed on the A91, near Gateside in Fife, in September 2013.
Stupid bh. And I must say, she doesn't look 36.

Scum. Had to emergency stop the other day when a car coming the other way in a village with narrow roads and no footpaths just veered onto my side of the road, see the person clearly looking down at their phone/something. Thankfully they looked up and swerved round me within inches of my car.

I can't comprehend the stupidity of people like this and it really should involve very severe punishment.

4-5 years and a 4 year ban I would guess?

God, somewhere a swamp will lose its donkey, I am being very unkind but the silly bh kills someone by doing something irredeemably stupid then is stupid and devious enough to think that deleting the call record on the phone will erase all trace of the call in the face of an investigation for a serious accident.

Society doesn't need people like that, we cant ever say we will never do something stupid but at least have the decency to face up to the consequences, or at least realise that altering evidence is futile and makes you look properly callous.

Just way too much horror in this story.

regarding her deleting the outbound call post accident, doesn't that also add trying to pervert the course of justice into the mix?

Er just killed someone.... I'll call you back.

Really? She deserves all she gets.

Too many fkwits around who still think it's ok to use a phone whilst driving. Top Gear didn't help with that. I like the show, but their whole "Driving whilst on the phone" crap was just dumb. People actually think like that and believe it.

Glad to see she is getting the book thrown at her.

No, I just found it a mildly amusing combination. Erroneous perceived implication on your part. You don't have to have a persecution complex just because you're a cyclist.

Cyclist obviously needed more training, compulsory helmet and hi-vis clothing, plus insurance, then she would have given him more respect and not hit him.

Or is that only for London cyclists?

Killing another road user because you were on the phone and not paying attention (let alone due care), has to be a custodial sentence.

As the judge withdrew bail and remanded her in custody, a trip to Cornton Vale is pretty much certain.

I'm glad it's looking like she won't just get a "slap" on the hand. Whatever the outcome, it probably won't be enough!

I used to work with Alistair Speed or 'speedy' as he was known.smile

He was a decent hard worker, always staying behind his shift to help out (without getting paid extra). I could not believe it when I was told, particularly how it was some careless bh not paying attention. The wife and kids that are never going to see him again, not that she cares....

R.I.P fella cry

How come no-one's found a reason why it's the cyclist's fault? Isn't this still Pistonheads??

It's because the culprit is a woman.

Been on my bike about 5 times in the last 10 years - Sorry about busting your theory frown

Erroneous conjecture on your part.
