Maybe it's just me, but if you tick every box on the spec list, on any modern BMW/Merc/Audi/MINI/VW etc, you need to live with the price consequences and stop whinging about the cost. We can all play with the configurators and get to ridiculous prices, but if you show a little restraint and focus on the essentials (visibility/drivng position/gearbox/suspension/brakes), the OTR price may not be that bad.
But do you shoot yourself in the foot come resale time when people say "it hasn't got x y z"?

I test drove the new Cooper S early this year and i really liked it. Hard to ignore that engine it sounded amazing and much better overall than i thought it would be. It felt more than fast enough so this JCW version must be a real rocket ship. Felt like a really premium product aswell although for the price it should be.

I still think there's way too much going on inside for me. It's much better than the previous models though. More logical and a definite improvement. I've got no complaints about the looks or the size of the car it just felt about right for me. The one i drove was specced up with pretty much everything on it with the Volcanic Orange paintwork that looked stunning. I was surprised to find it wasn't even a metallic finish.

The only quibble i have with these is the lack of decent finance offers available, whether it be lease, PCP etc. They're just not attractive compared to it's competitors. It's near enough Golf GTI money in fact which is daft. The actual price of the Cooper S/JCW doesn't surprise me as it's under BMW's wing so it was always going to be expensive.

I'm also not one to be put off a car based on an experience at a dealership but when i was waiting for the woman to go out on the test drive with as she was already dealing with another customer i was speaking briefly to another lady who worked there. As lovely as she was she asked me what i was driving atm and i said a Volkswagen Scirocco and her response was; "Well why would you want one of these then?". It just stunned me tbh.

The Missus works for the car leasing arm of BMW so i'm currently inquiring about the lease on a Cooper or Cooper S. JCW would be great but I think the Cooper S or even the Cooper would suit me.

You'd have to be out of your bloody mind to pay £32k for that. I don't care how well it drives.

With the advent of the (newly announced) Focus RS starting at £3k below that - leaving room for a few options before you hit the same price - and the Civic Type R and the Golf R and the Golf GTI Clubsport and the....

£32k for a Mini??!!! The world's gone mad. MAD I TELL YOU!!!!
