No probs for me either. I have a 7, 5 and 2 year old side by side in their car seats across the middle row without a problem. When the 2 year old was a baby she was rear facing in the front pax seat and my wife fitted in the centre seat no problem. She is quite slim and and only 5' 4" (though legroom for a 6' isn't a problem) but it might be a squeeze if you need to get someone more powerfully built in there but really, nothing short of a minibus will have more width.

Width isn't the issue with the SMAX - if you have an old relative trying to get past a child seat to then get into the centre seat through a conventional opening door, it may be difficult for them. If that is a case you may need to go to the full size Alhambra / Sharan with sliding rear doors. Otherwise the SMAX is a cracking car and really quite good fun to drive - my brother in law has a Corolla Verso and not only is it not as good a family car as the SMAX, he looses the will to live every time he unlocks it....

I must admit if you are trying to get an adult between the child car seats in the rear of the Mazda5 you will find it a bit tight. The S MAX looks like a wider car

Thanks for the info

Getting an adult in the middle was a bouns and by the sounds of things S-Max is one of a few that will tick this box, however boot space is more important on the final decision.

Galaxy then. Exactly the same car as the smax but has a bigger boot. One of the few cars about that has full size seats 3 abreast and rear seats I can sit in comfortably. I'm 6'4" and powerfully built obvs.
