the good news is this is not a limited run skunkworks car like the MKI, they are going to flood the market with them so they should come up cheap soon enough, there are already lease deals for low £400s a month incl

In order for this merry-go-round to continue, they have to be nice about the products they review. At worst, they'll be 'constructive' in their feedback. Ultimately though, you don't bite the hand that feeds you.
At least with 'promoted content' the deal between the two parties is clear. And for the record, i'm not judging - i'd do the same thing!

I don't get this. I recently ran a new S3 for 6 months and probably used the full 300PS a couple of times everyday. Even on the commute - great on motorway slip roads and A / B road overtakes.And quite often I wanted a bit more. 362(?) horses and a far better noise can't be bad.
Having read through thus from start to finish I'm really gobsmacked by the amount of audi hate going on and presumptions made to the rs3 big rubbish.
I recently test drove the rs3 as I'm considering buying one and I actually loved it. Really loved it.
Firstly I don't appear to fit in to the stereo type audi rs buyer mention earlier. For one I couldn't give 2 hoots about the badge, if it had nothing behind it. I couldn't care about showing people I have enough cash to buy an rs audi either which is mentioned earlier.
I'm also a driving enthusiast and like cars for their individual merits. I currently have a Delta integrale Evo2 as one of my classics and would say that they are one of my favourite all time cars. You don't have one of those to show your wealth as most people who don't understand cars think that they are a pile of poo boy racer car. My current daily is a Golf 7r, and I'm not a huge fan of it having owned it for 1.5 years. It's good, but I find it a bit boring. The noise of 8t is awful and synthetic and is a real dissapointment for me.
Anyway here is what I thought of the RS3 and it was before I'd done any reading on the car as I wanted to form my own unbiased opinions.
Looks - well, yes it's not an in your face car and isn't much different than an a3/s3 from the side but I don't want a car too in your face anyway for my daily.
Interior - slightly underwhelmed by the interior. Don't get me wrong it's nice, but not much difference than other A3 models.
Engine/gears - now we are talking. The engine is brilliant. The noise instantly reminded me of the quattro s1 group b cars with their unique 5cyl noise is simply intoxicating. The sound of gear shifts and exhaust note/popping is insane. The engine is the seller for the rs3 it's incredible
I was also shocked at how smooth and drivable the car was at normal speeds even woth dynamic mode selected and gears in sport. The Golf DSG box doesn't like you tootling around in sport mode and holds the rev's like a maniac.
A huge anoyance with the RS3 is the options package which is borderline taking the p1ss in my opinion. A 40k car that needs you to pay £550 for anything other than marmite grey, £150 for the rear seats to fold down, £150 for folding mirrors, £795 for RS seats (it's a fecking RS give me the RS seats FFS) and I can't have a sports exhaust without the mag ride suspension which is a £1500 package together. That is a real thorn in my side.
I had the car for a 2 hr test drive, when I come home the wife asked me what I thought - my response was I've never driven a car that gave me the buzz like the rs3 did (delta excluded). For what I want in this car it's perfect. I think personally it's the noise of the thing combined with its non in your face styling that makes it so great. I absolutely loved it and can't wait to ditch the Golf 7r for it.
Hope this helps others not to fall in to the trap of being sheep, try it and if you like it form your own opinions.

That's a lot of flaws and issues to still love it.

None of the two of them really floated my boat. I thought the RS3 was particularly dull.

I don't understand why people could get so excited, other than the pace of the car. It's quick if nothing else.
