It does happen, I forgot to pay at a self-service checkout yesterday (other things on my mind at the time).

People (females?) forget their cards at the Chip and PIN machines/points too...
Ha,

This happened to me me (Sikessss) I went to the post office to get a tenner out, I got to the ATM and my mind went blank completely, I couldn't even guess which number it had in it for a few minutes, I called up customer service and the bloke said he's reset yoru card and you have 2 more attempts, Got it on the last one.

Is this thread really reflective of the amount of help and advice one can now expect from PH? because many of the replies have been utterly appalling.

He's pretty much received either highly condescending posts or flatly been insulted, over a small amount of fuel that he has already tried to pay but was unable to.

Should we give the guy some advice based on the further details given in the tread? Maybe Dicuss the best way of dealing with debt recovery firms? Or perhaps share a few light hearted stories about something similar happening? Nah. Let's just read a couple of posts, pick on one or two points then jump to insulting the guy and call it quits.
OK - get your point but in fairness - the guy "forgot" the means to pay in the first place, then "forgot" to go and pay for another three weeks and then when it was suggested that he stop prattling on the internet about it and just go and pay what he owed - he responded with:

I'm going to pay, but I don't want to get stopped for flashing up on police computers and such or police turning up at my house and so on... do they tell the police I have paid or what? Just wondering
Please - some people just DO deserve a kick up the arse.

TBH you sound quite useless at life. Have you looked at alternatives?

Payed...

Got a receipt, although the receipt is dated 14/06/2015, the actual transaction was found using his EPOS system and found it from the 21st May.

I'm not too shocked at the replies on PH tbh, as I usually take part in roasting the OP in such cases anyway, I'm more concerned that everyone has perfect memory lmao!
Having been in this situation before.

Here's what I did.

Step 1/ At the first earliest opportunity ( oddly enough the same day!!!! ) - I went back with the wallet and paid.
Step 2/ A small bunch of flowers and a thank you card for the kind lady behind the till who took a sympathetic view of my situation.

What I did not do... is FORGET ABOUT IT.

How on earth can you forget about something like that for a couple of hours - let alone for a month.

Easy enough done, did they not try to contact you personally first?

Did it years ago when a garage had their card machine out of order and didn't mention this till I went to pay, gave them all my details and promised a cheque in the post as they were out of town for me, promptly forgot all about it for a week when my boss rung up to ask why a garage was chasing them over an unpaid fuel bill, the monkeys had recorded and decided to ring the number on the liveried van rather than remind me directly, thats forest of dean people for you.

I do sometimes, if I'm running late and eating a bit of toast.

Cue post of said muppet driving an Audi R8 and making me look like an idiot hehe
That post was pure comedy.
Oooh, wonder what happened to that guy. Said he'd have the R8 by summer. Wonder if he's got it yet.
