How long before the european manufacturers will understand that a lot of us still want a good old V8 with a manual transmission at a decent price.
Jaguar, BMW, Mercedes etc.etc. have all jumped on the über-technologische bandwagon with useless driver aids that nobody asked for, and forgot on the way that a manual V8 will opean the pockets a lot easier then any infrared night vision, massage seat hokus pokus.
Bravo Ford!
Judging from their sales figures, they obviously understand what their respective markets better than you do.Jaguar, BMW, Mercedes etc.etc. have all jumped on the über-technologische bandwagon with useless driver aids that nobody asked for, and forgot on the way that a manual V8 will opean the pockets a lot easier then any infrared night vision, massage seat hokus pokus.

This car is great and I really like it.Jaguar, BMW, Mercedes etc.etc. have all jumped on the über-technologische bandwagon with useless driver aids that nobody asked for, and forgot on the way that a manual V8 will opean the pockets a lot easier then any infrared night vision, massage seat hokus pokus.

Just on the above though I do agree, but the Jags are far simpler than the Germans. The gearbox is an auto but with great programming and the manual modes work. There's a button to firm it up or soften it down and one to switch the traction control off which doesn't do much when it's on anyway. There aren't a zillion ways to configure the car and I like that. It's ultimately a family car, albeit one you can still overtake in going uphill in a strong headwind when fully loaded and you don't need to brake every time the road changes direction like soft barges.
A Shelby Mustang would look great next to it on my driveway.
Clearly I'm a chav in the eyes of the PH "wealth whispers" fraternity, but I love the colour, the stripes, the bonnet scoop and even the wheels.
My wife was on about test driving the Mustang (V8 of course - zero interest in a 4 banger) but a Shelby would be awesome.
Nothin against all the schicky-micky programmable electronic gizmoes, but WHY can't a classic manual transmission be offered even as an option?
Jag coupe, great V8, looks porn, but no auto.
M3,M5,M6 all auto
AMG models...auto
Surely the accountants of all these companies have done their research and thier sales figures speaks for them. I for one will not even consider a sports car without a manual transmission. I'm buying the damned thing as a toy, to take out for special drives. The accountants forgot that one buys a sports car to DRIVE it, not to pretend you are sitting in front of the playstation flicking throgh gears.
I would have bought a european, but they are literally forcing my hand to hand my dough to the yanks.

(very slight question mark over the wheels, but that's an easy fix)
Agree with all of that! (very slight question mark over the wheels, but that's an easy fix)
Isn't it funny that many Brits used to criticise the Yanks for needing a slushbox and 27 cupholders to take them to the end of the street, yet now it's them that are producing the fun, exciting, V8, RWD cars with manual 'boxes?
For those few people who haven't seen it yet, Ford have their performance parts catalogue online:

I like it lots and if I win the lottery at the weekend it will be on the shopping list
Same here, Fleckers - a standard Mustang is one of the very few brand new cars that I'd love to own. As for this particular model, it appeals to me so much more than any of the usual German suspects ever could. Bloody lovely.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
