RE: Shed Of The Week: Volvo 480 ES
Discussion
I remember when these first came out - I really liked the looks (along with the then-period Aerodeck Hondas)
BUT
Autocar ran one as a long-termer and Volvo had to extend their test because their car spend MONTHS in the dealer with faults they couldn't seem to fix - didn't really enamour me to them much!!
It is, of course, a DAF and not a Volvo really - back then the difference mattered (ever driven a 340 - terrifying!?)
OK - years go by and it must work now but - on the whole - maybe not eh - or, I dunno, it's lovely and period ;0
p.s. the more I look at it, the more I want it - I really do prefer older cars - it's some sort of disease which comes with old age eh?
p.p.s. I keep coming back to look again - because cars you don't see often anymore are cool - yeah?

I drove a four year old 2.0l ES for 70K miles
Was the most unreliable thing this side of a Greek politician.
Best moment was when I parked it up, locked it and one of the pop up headlights went mental and kept opening and closing repeatedly - like it was winking at me!!
Driving one now must be a high risk vocation.....the electrics were just rubbish....and cannot of improved with age
