After the 2014 PH Sunday Service at the Morgan factory, I knew I had to one day have a go at driving a Morgan 3-Wheeler.
Well, last week I did that just - hiring one for 24 hours direct from the factory.

To my astonishment, they let me have the 'PopBang' car, vinyl-wrapped in multi-colour artwork. I spent the next 5 hours getting properly sunburnt and windswept blatting around the Cotswolds, having a brilliant time. The engine feels a touch lethargic but it still has great responses, as does the chassis. The noise is incredible, addictive. I shifted up, and down, and up, and down just to hear it. Everywhere I went people stared at it. I ached when I got out, the controls heavy, unassisted, but all the better for it. No sooner had I got out and recovered, did I want to jump back in and drive again. It's such enormous fun, especially if the weather is on your side. It's not super-fast, in fact it's almost more enjoyable going slowly as the buffeting gets quite strong at 70. It's undiluted, raw motoring in a truly charismatic machine. I was quite sad to hand it back; I loved every minute with it.

I've written a much more detailed account of my adventure here if you fancy a longer read. Meanwhile here's a handful of photos from an awesome day with an awesome car:

There were 6 of the original ones filling up at my local garage yesterday, all wire wheels, exposed valve springs and a nice noise. Lovely.

That would be one hell of an adventure! After my short trip I'd want to break up a long trip like that, it's tiring after a few hours. A good excuse to stop and take photos! Maybe I'm not as hardcore as some PHers.
