Which (2000-2015) sedan does the trick for you, stylingwise?
There isn't much out there I'm afraid. The 159 obviously, but also the A4 B6 which I find very neat looking. To a lesser extent perhaps the A8 D3 before the face lift, The Citroen C6 and the last gen SAAB 95. Perhaps I'm just stuck in the 90es ;-) as that opens up a few more, E36 and E38 mainly.
No details of the range until Frankfurt and no likelihood of deliveries in the UK for over a year, at the very earliest. I've heard only the 2.2 diesel and QV will be available, initially. Much as I love Alfa, I fear they're about to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory...

So an overpriced hot version (if the £70K+ rumours are true) and one to keep the company fleet market happy. I can understand the second but I would have hoped they'd have released one of the other better value petrol engines too. Much as I like the QV, I think it's going to be too expensive for a small exec saloon. Still if it follows the usual Alfa depreciation curve, I'd probably still consider one when they are worth half that in a couple of years. Edited by Ali_T on Thursday 20th August 10:00

I presume not every market will get every spec there, but added hope there'll be a meaty petrol that won't cost the earth.

Why use a double clutch gearbox only for the QV and not for the rest of the range?
And what is the Giulia L1?
Also the power levels are not consistent with what's reported so far. The most potent turbo 4 pot petrol was supposed to make >300hp.
Likewise where's the diesel V6?
L1 is an Italian market only variant, kept under 250bhp for tax reasons. And what is the Giulia L1?

The QV comes with three transmissions. Manual, dual clutch and traditional auto depending on market.
Most of the power levels were just rumours. The 200 and 280bhp petrols are consistent but the huge gap between the 280bhp 2.0 and the 510bhp QV needs to be filled. I wonder if the Ghibli V6 in 325 and 404bhp will make an appearance later? They really need to, to be taken more seriously.

That's a big gap!
Although 280bhp will be plenty, was hoping for a 335 fighter as well.

Nice to see a manual version of the top end car.
Yup! But no manual on an affordable petrol . They don't see a market? Or are they technical reasons? Would have thought if they have a manual box that can handle the diesel's torque can't be that costly to offer it for the FI petrol...But let's see if any of this is more than rumour.

Has anyone put a deposit down for one of these? Considering talking to my local dealer to see...
Good luck with that. I went to a dealership hoping to get some clarity on the process and was met with overwhelming indifference. In fact the guy actually slated Alfa Romeo - gues he's not too used to selling and has never heard of Gerald Ratner but it did remind me that one aspect of Alfa ownership I don't miss is naff the service.Kolbenkopp said:

I'd want a manual petrol too, but when you look at the last couple of years UK BMW 3 Series sales, only 3% are petrol manualsBut let's see if any of this is more than rumour.

My dealer is a lot better but they're still getting thoroughly pissed off at Alfa for all the delays. They haven't even got an order book to open yet on the QV, never mind the normal models. For a glorious return to being market leader, this new rejuvenation is going pretty badly already! Sadly, the salesman I usually deal with has had enough and is moving over to Ford. They're also being moved as the Seat and Suzuki franchises they share a site with are outselling them vastly, but have no firm plans on where to relocate to...unless Western drop Alfa altogether leaving no Scottish dealers at all....and we only have two to start with!underphil said:

Uh, OK. Wasn't aware it was that unpopular. Is that world wide or for the UK? Understandable they can't be arxed if it is that much of a niche product. Wonder who's going to want a manual diesel though -- probably just to save some money for fleet managers.
