Before I spent any money on anything else I'd buy a new battery, especially if the one fitted is the original.
^This^A six year old battery is three years past it's warrantable service life in most cases. Change the battery.
A failing battery in my Alfa sends it completely whack. There may be heaps of power/amps to turn over the engine but as soon as the voltages start to drop the ECU and body computer go completely mental. It's a clear sign that the battery is on its way out or cactus (happened twice now, it's a keeper my Alfa).
Something different... although I suspect being a feature car in a Fast and Furious ticks the boy racer box.

How about a CLS 63 AMG? Fairly discreet, goes like the proverbial, and a very nice place to be inside.
Is a Panamera too ugly for you?
I'd vote for a CLS. They even do a shooting brake version. Everyone comments on how nice mine is, and even with a 33.5v6 (350 petrol) it has 300HP and doesn't hang around. The AMG must be mental and sounds lovely (sounds will be important after the Maser!)Is a Panamera too ugly for you?
Is it too silly to suggest a V60 Polestar...?

Certainly a Q car. But also like driving a repmobile, not very special.http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/v...

OP I had a Granturismo do the same thing, I was driving & the Handbrake just locked on & it wouldn't release the AA turned up diagnosed a battery fault.
Go to your Local Halfords they have the batteries in stock it normally takes a couple of goes with switching the engine on & off which normally clears the faults.

If I bought a car for £40k+ and my dealer told me I'd have to wait 10 days for them to have a look at their car which had thrown a fault, I'd tell them to fk off and dump it with them.
If anything ever goes wrong with my lowly £20k VW, it's dropped to my local dealer the same day who arrange me a hire car almost immediately.
Quite shocked at that response from your Maser dealer.
Slightly OT but where do you live?If anything ever goes wrong with my lowly £20k VW, it's dropped to my local dealer the same day who arrange me a hire car almost immediately.

VW Dealers I used in London couldn't match that (by a long way)
Currently have a BMW and you're looking at a week to get it booked in, but up to 3 months if you want a courtesy car.
Admittedly I didn't buy the car(s) from the dealer I was using so no goodwill there, but still...

Don't knew where you're based but Google themaseratished. He's a one man band based near wickham in Hampshire, very reasonable for servicing and well liked.
He also has all the diagnostic kit. He was featured on an episode of wheeler dealers as he has a cheap fix for the throttle issue on the 3200GT which 'old 'art yer 'and Mike was very happy with.
Give him a call for a chat.

As mentioned before, Maserati's/Alfa's are VERY sensitive to a weak battery. Sounds like a likely culprit.
In terms of servicing, I know the pain having had a 4200 but many of the parts are off the shelf from other models.
e.g. the 4200 shared brakes with a BMW, the F1 pump is actually a £200 selespeed unit, interior lights were Alfa e.t.c
Would recommend finding a good specialist that won't charge you astronomical dealer prices and with better service to boot (IMO).
Wouldn't swap a QP for much else 2bh and there will be one on my driveway when I....have a driveway again.

A typical timescale is as per the below...
Car went wrong i.e. flagged a light or the car was making a noise which I knew wasn't normal, on day 1. Either on day 1 or the morning of day 2 (i.e. pre-10am) I had a courtesy car delivered to me or a taxi waiting to take me to the courtesy car.
It probably helps that I'm a relatively friendly chap and don't get all angry when something does go wrong (not saying either of you do however I can imagine if I was a typical PH wker type, I'd not be so fortunate).
Also, just to be clear, this isn't the efficiency I receive for a service, the wait is about 2 weeks at my local dealer for that*.
*Whilst I say that, I dropped my car off for a service today, having not booked a hire car, however the guy I deal with still managed to wangle me one
Panamera is ugly as sin despite it's many other merits.
I do like the CLS but it only has 2-back seats as I understand it and the spec I needs is for 3 ideally.
Interestingly I ended up with the maser as I originally was looking for a Jag xfr, I'd found one but then my local dealer (Nottingham) never rang me back about it, masochistically I tried to find another XFR but again the same garage never rang me back. I did locate a 3rd one but by the time I rang another garage they had sold it to someone else.
At that point my wife (ironically) reminded me I had always hankered after a maser so I looked on pistonheads and found one about 2-miles up the road from me and the rest is history!
For me the XJR would fit the bill, but I confess I'd still like to keep the maser

3 times in a row now - consistently great service from VW's warranty service and my local dealer.

Ah OK fair enough, I'm comparing response to warranty work to regular servicing. I don't have any warranty work experiences to compare with.A typical timescale is as per the below...
