Yes.

Have you seen the weight different between a coupe and a vert....? (and that's before even mentioning chassis flex)

Any ///M convertible, is an oxymoron if regarding 'performance'.
0-60 in 4.6 seconds, is that less manly than my coupe 350z which is down in the measly 5.7 sec? I think not.
I however, grew out of playing Top Trumps before I left school, so if the meaningless 0-60 times are your only measuring criteria for a 'performance' car......then by all means, crack on rolleyes
Good come back, I'm glad the use of "top trump" stats is being held up as very childish! Shame of course you mentioned weight and body flex which are one might feel.... "stats"

Prey tell other than the massively subjective "manliness" meter how are we to decide? Is a 358 spider a girly car? Clearly because of weight and body flex, the true measure of girlyness vs manliness

rolleyes

All of them, except this one:

Although I suppose it's not really a convertible is it... hehe

To be fair, TVRs aren't girly, so I think it's the danger aspect.

So I shall rephrase it to:

All of the safe ones.

I saw a man driving a 206 CC yesterday on his own. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and assumed he was borrowing it off his other half, but it did just look ridiculous.

If you buy a convertible the stereo will only play Jimmy Somerville. I plugged an ipod into mine with 126g of music on it and now all it does is play a 16 month long remix of Don't Leave Me This Way.
Can't hear the stereo in mine

The exhaust drowns it out... that or the screams from the passenger seat.

Oh now that brings back memories. I haven't done that since the court case. Fun times.

We had a TVR convoy run out 17th May this year through the beautiful Cotswold's stopping mid way at Broadway Towers and you can spot a few MX5's

Only a few can be seen in the picture but they just kept rolling in,lost count 25-30 maybe more and I never spotted a single female driver, there may of been as I didn't see all arrive but from my eyes this MX5 "Girly car" concept is wrong from what I saw that day.

I thought it was fantastic seeing all the gleaming clean cars and so many smiley and proud faces having such a lovely day out.

It's sounding suspiciously like powerfully built fat bald directors are taking offense to anyone who might enjoy the wind in their hair or the sun on their slender bodies. wink
+1

Clearly i'm going to be bias ... but you also get more ready access the glorious M3 V8 soundtrack with the roof down.

There is a whole other debate going on about what the //M badge stands for these days anyway ... separate discussion.

If "not being a drivers car" is your criteria for manliness then you've just designated the drivers of about 80% of the cars on the road as un-manly hehe

Anyway, there is nothing as un-manly as insecurity and pettyness in my book, a man who loves his bright pink Micra CC and enjoys it without giving a rats ass what anyone else thinks is a much bigger man than Mr. Insecure in his tedious white box sneering at him.
I think that this is the right answer!
And I don't have a convertible anyway.

damn... I didn't want to be dragged in but......

I supposedly drive a "Ladies" car. With a clutch so heavy some "ladies" don't like driving it, it only came in lady friendly manual, has 338 horses and on the Super Sports handles quite tidily (big improvement from the Conti's).

Yes, some CC's look "cute" (Nissan CC, 206 CC please step forward) then you've got CC's that look "Da Mutts" 650, 458 to name two.

Agreed most look like they are intended for a target demographic but some are clearly more macho than others.

"SL 63 AMG, well, It's a girls car init?"rolleyes

yeah, right....

People think the S2000 is girly?? 240bhp, 9000rpm limit and a reputation for going backwards through hedges, not a chance.

Girly cars

SLK - All except the AMG55 which is borderline. Full fat SL's however are acceptable.
MX-5 - Sorry I know it's the PH'ers golden child\answer to everything but it just is. Effeminate looks and not enough power to pull skin off custard.
Anything with the word CC in it usually or fwd shopping trolleys which have then had a convertible version released, see VW EOS. Peugot Convertibles, Mini etc for examples, you get the idea.
