Gone from rft to non runflats on a BMW

Car doesn't have room for a spare

What's a good precaution on 20" tyres, several tyre weld cans?

What does each solution offer, ie distance, speed able to travel on?

I just got a single can of tyre weld when I did the change over. IIRC it is 50 miles @ 50mph max.

BMW supply a compressor and a can of gunk in their similarly equipped cars.

Gunk is fine unless you get a split in the sidewall, then you're stuck.

Slime is probably the best sealant - it's water-soluble so can be easily washed out prior to repairing (and it's the stuff the AA use).

If it's a z4, a space saver fits well enough in the boot.

Would 20inch tyres fit on a z4 lol

It's for a 7 seat x5 so no room for spare

Slime, will google that no knowing if that is a brand or just a bother word for foam/ slime/ gunk stuff

I fill my boot with hope and the odd prayer to the motoring gods. So far so good.

I went to non-runflats on my 6 series 2 years ago and don't carry anything. I like to live dangerously.

I've recently just switched to non-rfts.
I carry my breakdown card and that's it.

I ditched the run flats 3 years ago and I carry my mobile phone to call a friend if I get caught out. I'm lucky that I use pool cars for work and we have an XC90 for personal journeys. I'm never too far from home or a lift!

This. Used to carry slime/gunk in my M5 plus a Green Flag card, do the same in my Cayenne.

If I went on long trips or over to Europe I would put one of the old tryes in the boot from the last time they were changed, takes up a bit of space but worst case all I would need is someone to change it until I can source a new tyre.

That's not a bad idea but have got rid of the tyres
Plus I also run a staggered fitment

Most manufacturers who don't provide a spare provide a compressor and a can of goo (Slime would be ideal).
If you have a bigger hole than slime can fix you could try these:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Silverline-380421-Tyre-Rep...

You'll need a compressor to set the tyre pressure correct.

Please note - these are temporary repairs only and the linked kit is not legal in the UK (apparently).
