Today I sold our old Clio. Two months ticket and ready to drive away, £300. I robbed myself, but it sold within half an hour of the ad going up and I valued that at a couple of hundred quid or so, so I'm happy.

I am selling my Fiesta - has a patch of rust - but its a great drive, interior is in great condition... engine/gearbox perfect....

I originally bought it to fill a gap for a month, but kept it as its been so good - too many cars on the driveway now so its gotta go!

£500 if interested!
......For what it is, I think it's very nice, but how could you trust buying a car from Surrey ?

How much profit do you think they make on each one?
Not a lot, I've bought a car from there and part ex'd one at the same time, all they do is give you a low price, cash in the tax (or used to anyway!), add £50 or £100 to the price they paid and put it up for sale. It's pretty easy for a quick sale, and as long as you go in with your eyes open and check the car over there shouldn't be any issues.

I'm so, so, ridiculously, sorely, stupidly tempted.

Positives:
I've always wanted one of these.
It has a V8 engine.
It's a Jaaaaaaaag.
It has awesome high profile comfy tyres.
Mmm, Jaaaag.

Negatives:
It's almost 300 miles away.
So much bork potential.

Hmm.....

Wonderful selection of sheds. Car of choice for me there is the Proton Gen2 with Ford GT stripes! I love the fact that they are not valeted, not touched up, in fact - nothing. I bet the guy makes more money than other local secondhand dealers after all their costs.

Reminds me of my electrician. He did 2 days work for me for £500. Then he expanded. 5 guys, 5 vans, contracts everywhere, working 24/7/365, except no one paid up. So he never had much money and when the money did arrive is went to pay off his working capital. He made more money working privately for a week than expanding.

Financial suicide I recon...as are most of those cars that really should be scrapped.
I wonder where they come from?

On his other ads he states £xxx + FULL 12 MONTHS MOT ON PURCHASE. Wonder why he's saying MOT JUST RUN OUT on the Jag?! Big bork?

I've done just this.

The other day I bought a 2000 V Polo 1.4 L 5 door with 116k on the clock for £200.

MOT'd till Jan.

New tyres on the front.

Not the best condition but hopefully will see me alright for a while...

Interesting business model trading in such low value cars must require epic turnover of cars.

I suppose when someone brings a car back with a fault that as a trader they they should really have fixed they fob them off for a bit and then just refund and scrap the car.....

Excellent. smile

I'll need a car for a daily fifty mile round trip so not sure if something that cheap would work.

Yeah, might be a bit of a risk....but getting something this cheap will always present a bit of a risk I think.

I'm pretty pleased with how the Polo drives, I have to admit.

Was it a local purchase or something like Ebay?

£150 "PX considered"

Who the fk trades up to a £150 car?
Could simply be an much used pro-forma advert where just the details are changed without thoughts about how it reads or logic.

There again, numerous folks who have a sudden and big change in their financial circumstances need to trade down, not up. Roller owner on hard times needs sub £500 transport sharpish and a few thousand quid balance from trading down. Far from unknown.

Back on topic. Almost any type or make of car can be cheap and functional if you search and know where to look and what to look out for.
