Did you buy it?
Ha - no funnily enough we didn't. To give him his dues the seller was a nice young lad and was really embarrassed. To his credit though he still called the next day to ask if we were interested. Can't blame a guy for trying! We ended up stretching the budget by another few hundred quid and buying a burgundy Micra 1.0 Vibe for the princely sum of £950. What a machine!

girlfriend at the time wanted to buy another student/uni car.
she and her parents were going to check out a 34,000mile example in a dealers for £1000.
.
funnily enough Top Gear magazine had printed a second-hand buyers guide which I posted to her.

the pedal rubbers worn smooth.
lower half the car painted with a brush
smoke on start up
she rang the previous owner to confirm the mileage..."what mileage was on the car when you sold it? the reply was...."what ever it shows on the clock...."
