Maybe they are confused that you think your diesel is or has anyting to do with the AMG range other than some plastic tat?
I guess if you toss out the AMG tweaked suspension, steering, and wider rubber, you might have a point. I'll just continue to enjoy the drive, and the plastic tat. smile

I think this thread is actually quite on the button. I've been seeing more and more aggressively driven Mercs lately, which never used to be the case. Usually blue efficiency 220 CDIs registered after 2010 in black! Merc used to be a bit like Jag; the cars were usually driven in a stately manner by "mature" gentlemen. Now it seems every stressed out company car driver is in an A4 or a C Class.

Its not a case of hating a brand or being jealous; I personally always quite liked a Mercedes, but disliking the way a vehicle is driven and yes I think Merc are up there with Audi now for attracting more than an average number of push on tailgating merchants.

As for BMW, better than they used to be, but let down by the 1 series diesel. There are plenty of chumps driving them still!

Its a pity; I am not sure which brand you turn to now if you want an exec size car with a positive image. Used to be Saab...perhaps Lexus?
I have had countless 118d and 120ds trying to race my M135i. It's bizarre.

I dislike the way that Mercedes is calling A180s 'AMG' and the dilution of the brand. I am not sure on the styling on the latest models, the last 507 C63 are lovely though.

Seeing too many white E class mercs with black alloys, black roofs (rooves?) AMG badges and 220CDI badges on the boot lid. Just looks a bit chav.

Maybe Jaguar is the way to go?
But look at what's happening to S-Types and XJR's frown
May I ask what you mean by this? I hope Jaguar keeps away from cheapening the brand, but I see they are doing 2.2d in R-Sport trim...

I know...it reminds me a bit of Jurrassic park and the velociraptors trying to take on the T Rex, you know its a pointless exercise, but they cant help it. I also saw a C220 CDI harass a C350CDI the other day and wondered what that was all about. A lot of drivers with these smaller engine diesels must have an inferiority complex. Similar to small angry man syndrome!
