Loving this bit.
I spun it off and said to my GF triumphantly, “we’re going home”.

Wow - what a great turn of events. Well done all. What a great bunch of folks there are on here.

You've started something JD - how far away from home (and how seriously broken) can you be without the PH community getting you home safely?!

I opened this thread full of dread but came away feeling genuinely happy! Apart from a couple of posts this is exactly how a forum for car enthusiasts should be - helping out strangers who need it because we all share a common hobby.

Fair play to all the offers of assistance and I think a standing ovation to the guys who took time out of their normal days/holidays to help this stranded PHer outclap

Well, this makes a bloody nice change from all the 'I hate cyclists' threads. Well done all concerned. Absolutely brilliant and exactly what these kinds of communities are for. All for one and one for all.

Very refreshing reading, glad OP made it home in the end. That's the kind of story that helps restore faith in the PH community.

That's very true.

I was just thinking that ten years ago today events in London closed the public transport network down stranding many commuters and there were lots of people on PH offering beds for the night to strangers.
Nice to see that spirit is still around

A cracking story, and a real credit to the PH forum. However, I'm going to suggest that there wasn't the hugest amount of "triumph" to be had from a bunch of other people solving the problem for you... Perhaps "relief" might be closer to the truth?
