I am currently sitting in the car aboard the Eurotunnel.

I will put up a proper post a bit later, where I will disclose some even more ineptitude and lack of planning on my own behalf.

Sufficed to say that three unbelievably kind and helpful people have put time and effort into helping a complete stranger and I cannot begin to thank them enogh.

Piston heads has quite literally saved the day

Bloody good show. The offer of a rescue mission from Belgium was brilliant too.

Whistling the theme from The Great Escape OP, or humming the end of The Dambusters March? hehe

Have to admit, I'm wondering just how a wheel _cracked_... External influences involved?

Good work to everyone involved.

Op - lesson learned about the AA cover regardless of how it was said.

I was stuck in France once with no alternator. Found a (British) guy in a pick up who charged my battery and a guy in a Bmw (also British) who offered blankets and hot drinks! smile

Take the wheel into BMW, they had cracking issues with the 19s so you may be able to get it replaced by them.

Amazing to see random strangers on the internet helping each other like that.

And then wrap them in ultra low profile run flat tyres that have sidewalls made of concrete.
