A Rover V8 lump fits on top of the old austin Princess 5sp transaxle together - under the unmodified bonnet line and bulkhead of the Mini 1275 Clubman...

On the old MiniList I remember a couple being assembled, with only a couple of CNC adaptor plates and a bit of low cunning ( + spare underpants)

The car BL could have made...!

I wish that ford had take the concept of the GT40 and made it more than just a race car, but made it a production model with a sensible price.
If the corvette had had a decent mid engined rival over the last 40 years, i think the world would be full of a lot more affordable more interesting cars

That's a shout.

I'll add a multitude of AMG Mercs with a decent manual gearbox to that to.

I also wish that Ford / Vauxhall still did V6s that were a more realistic day to day proposition than the Insignia / Vectra VXR, have ford even done one since the MK2 Mondeo? I mean low 30s mpg should be possible from say a 2.5 with 180 BHP or similar should be fairly possible with today's tech. I absolutely know why they don't but it does make me sad I missed out on the affordable performance saloons that were a little bit special IE V6 mk1 Vectras, MK1 / 2 Mondeos, mk1 Laguna...all sorts really.
Ford last did the 3.0 V6 Mondeo in the Mk3 (the ST220). The Mk4 they did with the inline-5 2.5T and then inline-4 2.0T. Don't know about the 2.0T but the 2.5T will do high 30's on a run... They're pretty rare too.

Anyway, I just wish they'd done a proper ST version of the Mk4 Mondeo, the nearest they got was the aforementioned 2.5T but it would have been nice to have something a bit more special, maybe even an AWD version.

I'd seriously consider a new Mondeo with the (new) Focus RS engine and running gear, the plain 2.0T not so much, it's no quicker than the 2.5T despite more (top end) power, is far slower in the mid-range and only comes as a bloody auto!

A Mazda MX5 with a 6 Cylinder engine.
Honestly just drop the 230bhp renesis in it when the RX8 came out, would probably be a half day job. Shame they didnt.
I heard that the RX-8 engine/drivetrain was a semi skunkworks project and developed in the MX-5, I've seen a build of someone who dropped one in and IIRC apart from the torque brace and driveshaft it was just bolt in. - Here we go http://www.rx8club.com/australia-new-zealand-forum... (they also supercharged it and stuff but the initial bit is the dropping in part).

Ford did both a 2.0 and a 2.5 V6 Mondeo in 4wd.

Ford Capri. RWD V6 with around 250 horses minimum. A rival for the GT86/VW Scirocco.

Toyota Supra that will beat an R35. Need that rivalry back smile

Volkswagen Corrado. A longer Golf/Scirocco but RWD with a 2.0T unit.

X100 XK8's and XKR's fitted with a manual box.

I'd have also liked to see the Autozam AZ-1 come to these shores.

VX did do the Vectra and pre-facelift Insignia with the 2.8T V6 in a non-sporty version, you could get it as an Elite. Insignia Elite came with 4x4, both are a softer ride than the VXR versions. Auto only though for both. smile

Silvia S15 with a RB25, the SR20 thats in it produces around the same power as a RB25. I imagine they didnt want it to compete with the R34 coupe but still.

Also a RWD Corolla after the AE86.

IS200 with the 1UZ V8, sort of a M3/ C class AMG alternative, sports saloon type deal.

A BRZ with the 2.0 STI engine and 4WD.

Going back a few years, a 4WD 2.8 injection Capri or a 3.0 Mark 4 / 5 Cortina in both saloon and estate form.

Only in the Mk1 and that was ~20 years ago now (did they even do a 2.5 V6 4x4? I thought it was only ever the 2.0i)

They did the Mk 1 2.0 Si and Ghia / Ghia X. Never saw any trace of a V6. It really did need a "halo" model like a Cosworth 4x4 estate. That's Cosworth in the manner of the Scorpio rather than Sierra. On the same lines, the new Mondeo is absolutely crying out for the Mustang V8 GT powertrain, with bonnet vents and slightly flared arches:

And because I'm a child of the 1980s, I want twin round spotlamps in the radiator grille. Talking of 1980s, its a shame Audi never did a proper successor to the Quattro. Yeah I know, coupé blah blah, but it never had whatever it was that the Ur- had.

I used to work for a company that had a 4wd 2.0 and whilst I was working for them I saw a 2.5 V6 4wd, I was so shocked that one existed I actually asked the owner to confirm what it was.

The 2.0 was a five door and the 2.5 was a four door saloon if that makes any difference?
