Cars you wish they'd make or had made?
Discussion
Within the realms of realism (a V10 Audi TT is, I'm sure, a structural impossibility for example) are there any cars that, staying within the car manufacturer, you wish they did make or should have made?
The obvious option of the Mk. 3 MR2 with the the VVTI Celica engine would have made a nice car or I reckon a Ford Ka with the the 125HP 3 cylinder turbo Would be an absolute giggle!
Anything else that made you think 'Why don't they....?'?

I wish they had more petrol engine options available for the current just to be replaced Astra Estate / tourer. Just get the 1.6 N/A here, but the 1.4T would have made an ideal car for me and I'd have probably saved for an extra few months to get one rather than the older model I currently have.
I also wish that Ford / Vauxhall still did V6s that were a more realistic day to day proposition than the Insignia / Vectra VXR, have ford even done one since the MK2 Mondeo? I mean low 30s mpg should be possible from say a 2.5 with 180 BHP or similar should be fairly possible with today's tech. I absolutely know why they don't but it does make me sad I missed out on the affordable performance saloons that were a little bit special IE V6 mk1 Vectras, MK1 / 2 Mondeos, mk1 Laguna...all sorts really.
I also wish more companies did something similar to Dacia, I don't like the styling of those, but like the concept of a simple but reasonably well put together car.

The plan was to emulate the success of the Carlton in a smaller package.
Initial analysis work was indicating 300+ hp, sub 5 secs to 60 and a top speed of 165 mph.
Was canned, as it was deemed an uneconomic project.

With the rise of the retro car, Jag S Type, BMW Mini, Fiat 500, Beetle, I wish Ford and Lotus would do a 2015 update on the Mk1 Lotus Cortina. With ban the bomb lights, 4 dials on the top of the dash, and only available in white with a green stripe.
When I worked at Lotus Engineering in the early 90s, we got as far as a buck fitted with a twin-turbo 3 litre V6 based on the Cavalier GSi 4WD.The plan was to emulate the success of the Carlton in a smaller package.

A Mazda MX5 with a 6 Cylinder engine. They had the (not brilliant as I understand it) 1.8L V6 in the MX3, a Miller Cycle engine in the Xedos 9 and kept/keep producing fricking Rotaries decades after everyone else abandoned them as an expensive eccentricity. Surely a revvy V6 in the MX-5 would have blown past whatever engine fetishist was signing off their R&D accounts without even a raised eyebrow!
I hope they do something cool with the new Twingo. I've read that the base one's aren't too great to drive, but the company that made the Clio V6 can't be afraid of sending owners backwards through hedges, surely!
I also hope Tesla eventually make it into the Ford Focus market segment. As much as I'll always love petrol cars, the thought of a boggo hatch that can do 0-60 sprints faster than many sports cars whilst costing buttons to run is a great one. I wonder if things like Audi S3's & other turbo 4-pots will still be collectible when their traffic light/motorway performance can be matched by a Dad-wagon.
