Inappropriate Drag Racing Cars?
Discussion
Went up to Crail on Sunday to do some drag racing- I took my Octavia Tdi up, but mine was not the most odd car there..

What odd things have you seen running down the strip over the years? I've got the taste for it now, so need to work out how I can go faster..

The one time I've been to drag racing I witnessed a 'stock' ( according to the owner) corsa 1.4 running mid 11's over the quarter. Was certainly scarring some more expensive metal that day. He claimed he didn't even have a license his dad drove the car to and from the strip but boy did that thing shift. I reckon it must have had a chip and filter modification.

I imagine the slug of torque from the motor helped a bit off the line?
got to be a good effort-and likely faster than my Octavia..
the BMW i3 seem nippy off the line-I wonder what they'd do on the 1/4?

Bit of a lame start though.
a classic vw beetle body mounted backwards on the vw floor pan.
covered in stickers " they said it couldn't be done" etc.
and they were wrong, scrutineering refused to let them race as they had a perspex windscreen.
they must have had to mess about with the rear window and fit and been unable to use a glass screen to fulfil requirements.
it was a mess in anycase.

We've had a few Octavias race with us over the years as part of the VWDRC. We had a stock Sharan with us at the Summer Nationals the other week! The joys of bracket racing
sounds good- link to the vwdrc if possible? 60+mpg makes it cheap to head to various venues!i was just RWYB rather than bracket racing (thats where you try to get as close to a target time without running faster?)
cheers

Our next round is in a few weeks, Bug Jam at Santa Pod. I think the RWYB is on Friday? We'll be all set up in the pits from Thursday lunchtime onwards. If you come then you'd be more than welcome to look round all the cars (we've got some lovely stuff racing with us) and have a natter etc

will watch that when I get to a pc-cheers!The OH's dad's mate used an old Astravan seen here at Knockhill; http://youtu.be/rq79sp4ITGs. He now uses a newer but still sheddy Astravan. Can't remember what power he's at but around 500bhp sounds right.
