New car handover with Audi

Thats just cost the buyer a hidden £1000 no doubt
You don't get anything for nowt
I assume this was a little tongue in cheek...You don't get anything for nowt
But to give it a serious answer the cost of the handover doesn't cost the customer anything.
It's a modest investment by the dealer in gratitude for a very sizeable custom from the customer, also secondary it's good business sense, results in a potential return in the form of:-
Higher loyalty by the customer (hopefully more likely to have the car serviced there in the future and buy the next car).
Some customers choose to publicise the great experience and therefore some good publicity is had.
Higher customer feedback scores and therefore more reward from the manufacturer.
I totally agree some customers might not value the handover and even think its a bit over the top ....many many love it ...it's a rare chance they get to buy a car, it's a huge deal for them and they appreciate the experience is marked as special for them.
I personally just want to jump in and drive the thing......but then I've been lucky enough that the last two times I've collected new cars they have been RS4s
- apologises that my last moment became a movement...

If you've 15 minutes to waste, you could learn how to hand over a car "Audi style" yourself:

FM. Really? Are people that gullible / thick / shallow.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rrQuZ2pse4
Loved the bit when he said "it's the last time you see it in that condition".
You're not fking kidding : the dealers traditionally swirl new paint to buggery when they "prep" new cars. Or at any subsequent service for that matter.
I am amazed anyone could get that passionate about a new piece of relatively mundane tin.
I would be the guy in that videos worst nightmare.I once purchased a BMW and not only did I not even sit in it before the purchase (a seat is a seat, right?), I also drove it slowly away from the forecourt with the salesman walking alongside my open window trying desperately to explain to me what all the buttons etc did.Pffft.

When the gf picked up her new Miniit had a bow around it and the sales guy bought her a bunch of flowers... They forgot to put any petrol in it though.
I thought it was a nice touch.
When I got my new car it was delivered to my office on the back of a transporter. Quick signature, keys in my hand.

However, I have seen a post on another site saying that the dealer I have ordered from recently expects the balance to be paid in full a few days before the car is collected (the person who posted this ordered a car from the same dealer I am using). I am not keen, what if I arrive and the car is the wrong spec, or is damaged?
I've been asked to do this before by a few dealers, if the car isn't on site and ready for inspection prior to the payment date then I wouldn't give them a penny. Having done the right colour, spec, options and no damage thing a few days prior to handover really reduces the amount of time wasted upon collection. Papers > Final inspection > Keys > Gone all possible in well under an hour!

The amount of times he said "Um" was so annoying, I felt like going um... insane.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rrQuZ2pse4
Just make sure she goes to the bog before she goes to the showroom just in case.

I'm in the minority here then, I quite like the unveil etc however I've never had one personally as I haven't bought a new car yet.
I'm looking at ordering a new Golf or Leon in the near future. I've set up test drives on Saturday to help make up my mind. Both dealers asked for my email address to confirm the appointments and to send me endless junk mail no doubt. I've received the emails saying how they are looking forward to seeing me etc but the VW dealer has also recorded a personalised video for me introducing herself and showing the car I will be test-driving.
I know it probably shouldn't do but in my eyes it's a nice touch and is making me more inclined to go for the golf.

I'm genuinely a little confused if I'm honest.I'm looking at ordering a new Golf or Leon in the near future. I've set up test drives on Saturday to help make up my mind. I've recently had a new (well, pre-reg but basically new) Golf, and whilst I get that people buy from people, I really couldn't give a stuff about a video of the sales person or of a Golf (seen one seen them all).
Are you buying a car or going on a date?

Really; that sort of st is thought up by graduates who have never actually worked in a dealership, I can imagine the uproar amongst the sales staff when this "fantastic" idea was introduced. HTP99 said:

Most of my handovers have involved me driving the dealer to the Post Office so I could tax my new steed using his trader's insurance! Bottle of Cava? I should be so lucky...

Picked up my Father's Merc when we were younger from the Factory in Bremin. They flew us out there, put us in a lovely hotel, had a full tour of the factory (over 3 hours).
This was followed by something to eat overlooking the large glass clad room with the new cars dotted around (think posh sandwiches rather than a la carte)
We were then given a nice German man who efficiently ran through everything on the car, handed us the keys, we drove it back home (via Meilenwerk in Dusseldorf) then dropped it back off at MB. They serviced, cleaned and switched over to UK plates.
Great service, great memory
