I had the best handover ever when I got the M135i last month : at my request it was unprepped so unswirled, yet still clean enough to inspect, the car was perfect. No BS, no trying to sell me anything. Took 20 minutes in total. That was Berry BMW in Chiswick. Free (full) tank of fuel was a bonus. Will be back for more as a result.

I once brought a new merc and the dealer monkeys decided to valet my car with a scouring pad. The dealer said don't worry we will take it round the back and give it a buff, 25 mins later he returned with a car that looked matt finish.
Needless to say i refused the car and told them to get it into my local independent body shop to have it sorted. End result the car had a full respray which ended up better than it left the factory.
Good grief, that's shoddy beyond belief.

I've seen Audi dealers where the new car rises up in a mirror lined lift up to the showroom floor; I would find it extremely cringeworthy, however I guess there are some that love all that cringy bullst.

I'd happily be told that the car is over there and "here are the keys; enjoy".

Back in the mid 80's I had a summer job cleaning cars at the local Alfa dealer. It was a proper "indy" - main dealer but family owned. Boss ran the company and sold the cars, his wife helped in the office and there were a couple of grease monkeys. They must have sold a car a week. One day a couple collected their car (a 75 from memory) and commented that it was bigger than their previous one and so was a tight fit in their garage. So the boss and I went round to their house to see what we could do to help and ended up helping the owner put a shelf up in his garage to put his pots of paint on, so he could edge his new car closer to the far wall and thus fit better.

Now THAT is a handover!

I think it probably makes them feel more comfortable justifying their £170 labour rates when you see them again for a service!

I'm getting one of the opening scenes of "Vacation" here...

"Dad, this is not the car you ordered!
Take it easy, Rusty.
Ed, this is not the car I ordered. I distinctly ordered the Antarctic Blue,Super Sportswagon with the C.B. and the optional Rally fun pack.
You didn't order the Metallic Pea?
Metallic Pea? No, Antarctic Blue.
The Sportswagon. This isn't even the right model!
You know, I think you're right.I don't think this is the car.
This is the new Wagonqueen Family Truckster.
This is a fine automobile,if you want my honest opinion.
It beats the hell out of the Sportswagon but..."

As mentioned, it'll be under a bed sheet. Very cringeworthy.

All these replies put me in mind of the cringe worthy stunts Apple pull when they release 'new' products. All the staff lined up, North Korean style cheering and clapping that never ends, and 'high fives' for passing customers. Worst thing is, people actually seem to join in. Seriously? Lesson here is to buy your overpriced hardware elsewhere... As to whether I mean Apple, Audi, or both - make up your own mind. tongue out

OP I hope you enjoy the car, and don't get too embarrassed at the dealership haha

OP, if they do the reveal with the bedsheet/curtains then you need to look very disappointed then tell them it's the wrong colour or you don't like it!

Someone I know bought a new DB7 and he was given an umbrella. That's useful if it breaks down, he said to the dealer. Sadly he wasn't wrong...

Op, just double check what model your getting as they could fob you off with any of the 3 previous generations and you'll never notice with the naked eye...
