Maybe it's a petrol Audi? Now that would be a surprise!

Either that or you paid so far below ticket price that the Dealership Manager has ordered the Salesman to bend over the back seat and get what's coming to him.

I find that very hard to believe.
Leave him alone, he definitely brought it.

At our Audi dealerships....we like to make a big deal

Announcement board, car cover, reveal, photos, perhaps a small gift, thorough handover !!!
Ahh I've not had a thorough handover for ages. Can I choose who does it or is it first come, first served as it were? hehe

OP, can you strap a GoPro on for the handover? Then you won't have to pay for the overpriced DVD they'll try and sell you of the whole experience. Plus the photos will be £20 each or £25 for the whole set on a USB stick...

I reckon they'll have the designer there to meet you smile

That's the old designer, they had to replace it as it won't produce A3.

What Audi are you buying?

The neighbours will be envious hehe
Sometimes I think I just love PH too much and some of you lot on here never fail to make me smile, cheers.
Very funny but slightly inaccurate as it will be a diesel, NO ONE buys a petrol Audi, in fact judging by what I see on the road, I don't even think Audi make them any more. wink

I've seen Audi dealers where the new car rises up in a mirror lined lift up to the showroom floor; I would find it extremely cringeworthy, however I guess there are some that love all that cringy bullst.

I'd happily be told that the car is over there and "here are the keys; enjoy".
Like this? - i think all that was missing was the smoke....

I suppose it's seen as a nice touch that doesn't cost anything. But I'd be more interested in checking out the condition of the car before signing off.

I've seen the whole 'reveal' thing going on.

OP should wait until the cover is whipped off and trigger panic by claiming the car is a different colour to that which was ordered.

Watch them squirm a bit.

All these replies put me in mind of the cringe worthy stunts Apple pull when they release 'new' products. All the staff lined up, North Korean style cheering and clapping that never ends, and 'high fives' for passing customers. Worst thing is, people actually seem to join in. Seriously? Lesson here is to buy your overpriced hardware elsewhere... As to whether I mean Apple, Audi, or both - make up your own mind. tongue out

That photo actually made me retch. High fiving customers? Customers allowing or even enjoying being high-fived? Oh lord no.

It is just a bit of fun, I really don't see the issue. At least they are trying to make an effort for their customers!

You make a very valid point and I seem to get pretty excited if I do eventually see one that isn't a 2.0 TDi!

I have a confession to make, I drive a large petrol engined Audi. Sometimes I feel like an alcoholic at a Mormon convention, think I'm letting the side down somehow. Apologies to my fellow Audi-ians. smile

I also got the special "Audi handover" when I picked up mine, yes I felt like a tt. Couldn't wait to get out of there but it seemed like they kept coming up with things to keep me for longer. Just give me the keys and let me be on my way already!

My mate got a bog standard A3 on a lease, when he picked it up it was roped off had a cover over it and had a sign next to it saying reserved for Mr Mate Do Not Touch.

Its only a bogo A3.

The thing is, the kind of idiots that are first in the queue for a new Apple product; the ones that have queued outside the store for 4 months, are exactly the kind of pricks that enjoy and lap up all that st.

thumbup

I enjoyed the handover at Audi as well to be fair and they did make it an enjoyable experience but it did seem to go on for a good while when you are itching to just jump in and drive away.

If you've 15 minutes to waste, you could learn how to hand over a car "Audi style" yourself:

Bugger, knew I'd missed out on something buying through a broker, all I got was "here's both keys, can you give me lift to the train station."
