Good evening all.

The misses and i are collecting our new car on friday and the sales guy seems to be making out that the handover will be a big surprise.

Anyone know what he is going on about? or will it just be a handshake it the carpark and a wave away haha.

They will tell you due to an "oversight" they have forgotten to charge you VAT.

Make sure you take your chequebook.

And they show you all the controls, other than the indicators for some reason.

The car has arrived in a different colour to your order and has some options missing.

Surprise!

What Audi are you buying?

Audi sometimes do all the glitz with velvet ropes and a notice by the front door saying 'We welcome Mr and Mrs Audidriver to collect their new A3 in White today' so if that's what floats your boat you may be happy!

When we picked up our A3 last year they'd thrown a glittery sheet over it. I was suitably embarrassed and glad to get out of the dealership. A year on and I can't stand the bloody thing, but it's for SWMBO so not my problem.

When I had my Golf and turned up to collect I was a little surprised to see a board by the door with a bunch of peoples names on it, including mine, misspelt, in wonky gold "pin on" letters biggrin

Each to their own I guess and some people probably like a bit of "show" having spent whatever they've spent, personally I just want the keys.

They'll roll it into the front of the showroom 10 minutes before you arrive, then applaud you as you drive away. Take note of where the service desks are - you'll be back.

Ours was under a cover with an Audi teddy bear and flowers on the back seat...it was brand new but go over the car thoroughly as one of the rear wheels was damaged!

Lol at some of the genuinely funny posts. biggrin

When my dad collected his new Audi TTS the first thing it needed was was a proper clean!

The dealer monkeys must have pressure washed it an let it drip dry resulting in millions of water marks all over the metallic black paint.

At our Audi dealerships....we like to make a big deal

Announcement board, car cover, reveal, photos, perhaps a small gift, thorough handover !!!

For some customers it a big deal (buying and collecting a new car) so we like to mark the movement for them.

Other customers just want to jump in and start driving.

Hope the car is all you expect and enjoy the handover !

I once brought a new merc and the dealer monkeys decided to valet my car with a scouring pad. The dealer said don't worry we will take it round the back and give it a buff, 25 mins later he returned with a car that looked matt finish.
Needless to say i refused the car and told them to get it into my local independent body shop to have it sorted. End result the car had a full respray which ended up better than it left the factory.

If they did a car cover reveal/clapping with me I'd reject the car.

Oh yeah some people live for that. All part of the 'imagine' hehe (is that PHism too overused?)
