Had one exactly the same. If they made them again I would buy one tomorrow.

A bit underbraked, oversprung at the rear, both easily sorted. Engine a little fragile (head gasket usually).

Otherwise a little masterpiece. Miles better than a Clio Williams, 205 1.9 (also owned).

A friend of mine had one about 15 years ago. On paper it had nothing more to give than the Fiesta Zetec S I had at the time. then I went in the Rallye.....
Wow! Such a rorty & revvy little motor that sounded and handled great. I've been in love with them ever since. Just bought a 306 GTI-6 to help scratch my mid 90s Pug itch. Would love one of these too.

Here's my old one, complete with rally camouflage with my first car in front that it replaced. It was a little different to the AX hehe

ETA I can still remember the immobiliser code for it that you had to type in before you started it!

I spent two years searching for one; rest assured this is a great price.

I always thought they must be so poor to drive in terms of performance so really pleased to hear that they do hit the spot, I have loved the 306 GTI-6 though since they first came out, good choice! thumbup

Does Dickie Meaden still have his S2?
Yes, he twitted about it not a long time ago.
Something about a joint video with monkey and his new euro-spec 205 Rallye.

I'll always love the 106 Rallye. I used to have a blue S2, what a riot it was to drive. The handling, turn in and adjustability in the throttle was incredible. There are few cars as finely tuned to communicate with the driver.

Just noticed that the front number plate has been replaced at some point. Cars of that age originally had a slightly wider, and much nicer font. I can be a bit obsessive about these things...

I have a lot of love for these at the moment and this one seems keenly priced.

Shame it is so far away. Well, probably a good thing for my home life!

If you're looking for the analogue experience then this is it.

I don't want to upset your home life dom9, but if you're even slightly serious about a Rallye, just make the effort to get this one! I spent almost two years trying to find the right example; standard original ones just don't exist anymore.

They really are a fantastic drive.

My wife had a red one from new, a special order without sunroof from Rockingham Cars in Melton Mowbray. 100% reliable except for a week when starting was a lottery as the cam position sensor was on its last legs.

We loved it dearly, but in 2002 it was replaced by a New Beetle Cabriolet and was sold.

Where are you now M91KBC?

Thank you Sir! I too have always loved the gti-6, am totally delighted that it hasn't disappointed me despite having had some fantastic machinery. Admittedly though the rest of my current fleet is pretty boring and the Pug has made driving fun again.
