I am sad I passed on the opportunity to order one of these...this looks well and truly epic.
It does indeed (despite the colour...). Hopefully the Ford GT will compensate! Admittedly I was never a McLaren road car fan mainly due to the style but was convinced to go and see (and hear) this earlier in the year, although on the face of it you see a 650s with tweaks, they are completely different cars, as the Speciale is to the 458. The noise is great but what swung it for me is the engineering under the skin and loosing that horrible black slats that ruin the rear of the 12c and 650. I think this is going to take what the Speciale achieved so greatly and turn it up a notch, maybe two notches.
I get to spec my one up next month

Yeah, looks great, but....
Looks the same as a 540, or a 570 or....
Well you see what I mean.
It's identical inside to the 2011 interior, bucket seats notwithstanding.
I know Porsche make this idea work, but not for me.
Porsche, Ferrari, Aston, Audi, etc etc Looks the same as a 540, or a 570 or....

They all have a style and stick fairly close to it across the range. Nothing new
However the 570s or sports series look nothing like the 650 and super series cars in the flesh

And what were you expecting....? It's 12c (P11) plaftform based car. The speciale has more or less the same interior as a 458 except for the daft carbon stalk in the centre with the gearbox buttons and some visibly bad welding and no one seems to knock Ferrari for it.comments from above - yawntastic, never going to have the precision/feel of a Ferrari etc... seriously and all without having actually driven the car...?
It's a car that's going to be real world 100+kg LIGHTER than a Speciale and that alone will get the car a serious advantage in being fun to drive. Still definitely have the odd twinge of regret giving up my spot for one...
I'm sorry I don't agree.
Porsche do it coz they almost have to, it's heritage and when they try and change it, people don't want it (928)
At least the Cayman is different to the 911.
Aston do it coz they are penniless and have to.
Audi don't make supercars
Ferrari - much as I think they are vulgar, at least have a 458, Cali and 599 (for example) that look entirely different and have different architecture. McLaren have the same tub, the same engine and the same interior. Keep your pedantry about how the 540 is "different"
You are just buying the hype.
Lotus manage to have a better range with a more clearly defined differentiation and they have less money that Aston FFS.

It's Castelloli I believe, near Barcelona. SEAT use it for a few launches, it's great!
Reminds me of the figure eight circuit in the early editions of Gran Turismo! Not familiar with this circuit, looks epic! SEAT are based just down the road looking at Castelloli on the map
