456 stunningly beautiful ? really ? I've always rated that as the most bland car ever to come out of Maranello. I have always liked the 550 though definitely more so than the 575.
One man's bland is another one understated style... But I bet you more people like how a 456 looks than don't!Krikkit said:
Beautiful car, perfect colour scheme for me!
Just FYI though that's not crema hide, that's cuoio by the look of it.

I think you'll find the colour is Sabia. Here's mine (bought in 2009 at the beginning of the recession and at the rock bottom of their values) which is Cuoio and Crema with a Verdi Silverstone exterior.Just FYI though that's not crema hide, that's cuoio by the look of it.

That's lovely!I always wondered what those shifters are like to live with? Does it take much getting used to?
The twist being mine is a manual 575 but very similar conceptually.
Love my 550 everything I wanted in a Ferrari and the perfect compliment to my 355, had new stuff but it doesn't float my boat either.
Didn't want another red / crème car but this was the best one I could find, €223,000 when new !!! ( not paid by me !!) , quilted parcel shelf, leather headling etc etc etc

The last good looking Ferrari to be made IMO and probably my favourite.
I too was a 90s kid, I had a scale model of one and had one of Clarkson's VHSs, in which he was looking for the best handling car of all time.
Clarkson, Richard Burns (RIP) and a BTCC driver, who's name escapes me, voted the 550 as no1 against a whole host of cars including:
Nissan Skyline R33 GTR
BMW M3 E36
Mitsubishi GTO
Peugeot 106 GTI
Ferrari 355
Porsche 911 (993)
Lotus Elise S1
VW Golf VR6 and probably a few others!
The rear end of the car is just perfect!

What? '90s Ferraris have handbrakes? I always assumed that little lever was just for some light cardio at traffic lights as there is no discernible braking effect?
Ok that explains a lot. But seriously what happend at the design? "Roberto dide ya forsee a handebrake? No Giuseppe, but letze gette a coffee insteade and we zhall aske Manuel to fixe it when he buildz ze car"I am not ashamed to admit that sometimes I have to unbuckle and open the door before I can get the damned thing off...

You put it on ...... !!! I am not ashamed to admit that sometimes I have to unbuckle and open the door before I can get the damned thing off...
I assumed Manuel just didn't attach it ! As he spent more time chasing Claudia in accounts !

Also fond of the 90s, I remember watching this

over-and-over and again. I think The 550 was not properly appreciated, I love the simple yet elegant shape (especially from the back), one of my favorite Ferraris.
"Gated 6-speed shifter, Ferrari lovers wouldn't have it any other way" - how things have changed...

I had the same video! How could you forget that the BTCC driver was Tim Harvey though? I always remember that he described the 106 GTI as 'something that you would steal from your daughter' I too was a 90s kid, I had a scale model of one and had one of Clarkson's VHSs, in which he was looking for the best handling car of all time.

The BTCC driver was Tim Harvey, and the only car missing from your list is the Honda NSX
Anyone else remember the awesome guitar soundtrack from those old Clarkson videos...big time nostalgia hit happening right now!
