IIRC Alfa & Honda were the last two mainstream manufacturers to have petrol-only engines throughout their ranges. Sad that they had to succumb eventually.

A good alternative to the E46 M3 would be the E46 330d Sport. It's fun and sporty to drive; obviously not at M3 levels but it's MUCH cheaper to run.

I'm not entirely sure you can compare a 330d to an M3!
