Speaking of the Nurburgring - are there lap times available for either the Tesla or the Mugen electric bike John McGuiness used in this year's TTZero?
Given the Mugen can do a full lap of the Snaefell course with minimal power saving, it should be able to get round the Nurburgring at full output.
Not for the Tesla, as it broke about a quarter of the way round. Given the Mugen can do a full lap of the Snaefell course with minimal power saving, it should be able to get round the Nurburgring at full output.

The hydrogen well, you 'tard...
please point us in the direction of all those free hydrogen mines you think existsThen left at the traffic lights.
Let's hear it accelerate through a tunnel!
The electric vehicle is going to be amazing when it goes populist. It'll be perfect for the majority of people, most of the time. And imagine your maintenance regimen!
Most manufacturers are considering EVs and other non-traditional powerplants, vehicles and systems.
But imagine a world where an unexpected brand gets into the game.

All this 'debate' is pretty pointless. If you look into how solar panel technology is getting cheaper and better, that couple along with cheaper battery technology is going to change power generation in a massive way. This change is going to driven by encomics. Electricity generated from solar/wind system is 'free' since the Sun comes up everyday, even on a cold wet island like the UK. So if you can access 'free' electricity why on earth waste energy extracting if from carbon sources buried under ground, or waste energy producing compressed pure hydrogen.
Hydrogen as a fuel sources is very powerful, but we are unlikely to ever control it, but than again we don't need to....Becuse the Sun, which is a giant hydrogen fuelled nuclear fusion power station already exists. We just need to learn how to capture the energery it generates - and we are getting there. Not bad for a species that shares 50% of DNA content with a Banana

I'm sure they can borrow tech from Porsche to play a nice "flat-6 in a tunnel" engine note through the speakers. unsprung said:

As usual Apple will wait until everyone else has done the hard work and then release their own idiot proof version which nearly all Apple users will think is the first one ever. From where?
Dihydrogen Monoxide? You know, that minor "three times the amount of energy you later get out from burning it" that's required to split it in the first place? It's like saying electricity is clearly unlimited because you can charge the same battery multiple times. That's all hydrogen actually is - a massively inefficient liquid battery.
Or have you invented a perpetual motion machine and not told any of us?

2.8 to 62mph
7.0 to 100mph
10.8 1/4 mile
Staggering for a 7 seater >> 2tonne family sedan.
Noise or lack of aural pleasure annoying.
Frankly there are very very few cars which could pass this car on the public highway.
I wonder if the P120D "mental institution" or "Straight jacket" will be out before the end of next year.

Well the Greenpeace approved method would involve wind and solar power, but as both of them are fairly useless I'd suggest some sort of nuclear power station? Of course the crusties don't like that much either, so I suspect we'd end up using Coal and Gas You know, that minor "three times the amount of energy you later get out from burning it" that's required to split it in the first place? Considering the number of diesels which everyone seems to be buying, I'd say noise is down the list of many people's priorities. A fake V8/10/12 noise through the speakers would be awesome though. Unlike some new cars which have been getting stick for this, nobody would complain about that because everyone would know it's fake to begin with bodhi said:
Can't say I share your excitement - whilst the Tesla may be quick off the line it drops off quite a lot after about 60, at which point a car with a proper drivetrain is just getting going - there are plenty of YouTube vids out there of Teslas beating ICE cars off the line, then get passed as if they are standing still.
Proper cars can do more than a minute and a half round the Nurburgring before dropping into limp home mode too. .
But for quite a lot of people, probably the majority, they would never need that car that would go cruising past once the Teslas at 70/80mph. Very few people take their car on the track, or need to do 200 miles per day.Proper cars can do more than a minute and a half round the Nurburgring before dropping into limp home mode too. .
I genuinely don't understand that kind of bashing for these cars. For the majority of people they're much, much more than adequate.
