Couple of weeks back on the roadside outside an East European mini market was a 330i on LT plates. Two guys working on the car high up on ramps, gearbox on the pavement, oil everywhere, a pair of legs hanging out from the side of the car with passing traffic lol..

My issue with home servicing via Diyers is that they rarely look at all the other components at the same time.

Been there tried to remove a heat shield on a mk3 mx5, so I could remove the manifold. Not sure how they got the manifold in as it was a bh to get out

We just left the manifold shields off if they ever needed to be removed or manifolds were upgraded etc. On the Mk1 at least.

Do you service your own car or pay a stealer or specialist just for the stamp?
I pay a specialist. I could service my own car but then it would break down and I'd have to pay someone more to fix it...

This is very true.

I am probably guilty of doing the scheduled maintenance fine but only attending to other areas when the need becomes apparent. But I do have an excellent MOT guy who points out anything that looks a bit tired.

Its a vicious circle I swear !

I thought I'd do the MX5. Just dropped the Oil, and gone to remove the filter.

Except some fking gorilla has put the last one on. Added to which not the correct one, so my filter spanner doesn't fit it.

Motherfker, now with a car on stands. Easter Saturday. Scraped knuckles trying to fight it, to no avail. the space is tight and all I have is my chain filter spanner, that I can't get a ratchet on to.
