There is quite a bit of jealousy on display here I think, poorly masked. Classic "I'm not racist but.." stuff.

The behaviour IS vulgar and crass but unless you live on the streets they're lapping it's pretty much a non-issue. It's not even a distraction because most people aren't even affected.

As for the girls involved - well, it's not particularly surprising these cars & drivers attract a certain shallow clientele. If I was being generous I'd say I agree with the guy that said that they're just anthropologically drawn to someone who could be a solid provider for a possible family, etc. Since I'm not being generous I'm more inclined to believe it's as simple as them being magpies. Just go to a swanky club famous for footballers attending any other time of the year and you'd find the same women hoping to snag one of them, have a kid and be set for life, so this supercar season isn't particularly revolutionary. As it is though this stuff doesn't really speak of womankind any more than it does about supercar owners as a whole. Ultimately both parties involved in these things deserve each other.

As for the money - anyone who says they'd rather graft for a living instead of winning the lottery (as these people have by being born into these oil-rich families) is a bit bonkers in my opinion. You could have their money and still be a grounded person if you wanted to be, without being dependant on a job to pay the bills.

It's better than here, whereby recently I saw a 08 Gallardo and it was amazing. Send all the Arabs to Cork, we'll take them.

I find it more baffling that they are people who can now afford to buy supercars just by videoing people driving supercars in London...

hyde park corner wouldn't be where I would choose to race my Ferrari but I can't afford one. If someone told me two years ago video those cars and you can buy your own one I would probably have done it.
It started with Arab playboys competing and having cars wrapped in increasingly ugly colours but nowdays there's just as many on uk plates. It's still nice to see them / hear them though.

Not sure I should post this but... it's actually quite good fun driving in 1st and 2nd gear in a loud, sod off supercar through a busy city.

A good mate has an Aston Martin DBS with quicksilver exhaust in Hong Kong and gives me the keys regularly so I've done it a bit.

I don't think it's narcissism because the car is not mine, nor did my attributes get it, but again I say there's something really smug about doing it and it's great fun. The majority of PH's bagging it out obviously haven't had the opportunity to try it.

AND, in HK at least, a Westerner in a fast car making a lot noise get's the picture phones snapping AND girls (well mostly middle age women) do smile at you!
I should point out my mate is Asian and he get's almost zero crowd response doing the same antics.

You're telling me you wouldn't you floor it for maximum effect??

Case in point though, I'm not entirely convinced Paul Wallace owned that car (R8); certainly not without the help of parents or SB Racing which he works for. The guy has less than 200,000 subscribers on Youtube and that is by no means enough to even make a full time job out of. When he came to sell the car recently what struck me as very odd was that he handed it over to a friend to sell, and then it turned up back in an Audi dealership within the week...I suspect it wasn't his car to sell! His vlogs are ok, but it is more about him (usually starting with him struggling to get up claiming 8.30 is an early start!) and like LordAleem and others, knows very little about cars on the whole!

Is there a thread on this forum about these new generation vloggers?

I would pay money to see an encounter between them and some of the locals.

Show off in someone else's car to a bus queue?

Does no one think of the money they bring, whatever they do?

They pay fees, fines, buy stuff - expensive stuff, and eat at our best restaurants creating an industry behind them.

I see local businesses needing this kind of economy boost (including the car showrooms that they inevitably visit).

I still want to know how these guys seemingly get away with treating one of busiest places in the world like a race track/car show and get away with it, but a video yourself on a B road enjoying an atom - prosecuted, do a drift video with spotters at 4am - prosecuted. Meet up in a retail car park at night with modified/interesting cars - police called and quickly moved on.

I don't really care that much about these chaps, I'd just like to see some fairness and continuity shown if we are going to ban any and all "fun" use of motor cars in vaguely public surroundings.
I wonder why

Is this some ultra dry satire I'm too dumb to appreciate?

Assuming it's earnest - it is narcissism. The ownership of the car is irrelevant and I'm sure you don't make a point of telling people you don't own it. It's all a bit sad really, sorry.

The vloggers are just as bad at seeking attention too. Footage rom today showing a UK R8 thrashing it around London just because it has a noisy exhaust, trying to mix it with Zondas and Enzos...kind of like bringing a knife to a gun fight! Looks like a right t!t. Some of these vloggers are no better than the guys importing cars in, many are living off parents, claiming they work hard getting up at 8.30am and going into work for 2 hours, then driving around on supercars they claim to be their own, but still, looks like fun for them and brings these exotics to the masses.

I'm not normally a fan of super cars in the city, but saw one today which made me smile - a Lamborghini Countach being driven up Ginza Street (Tokyo's equivalent of Regents Street) in rush hour, just being driven normally, not showing off etc.

Indeed Ireland is rubbish for cars so maybe we would appreciate them more? Haha also was the gallardo black? Spotted one by KFC in little island.

... but most importantly HOOKERS!

HOOKERS, literally throwing themselves at the owners, writing their numbers on the screen with their Number 7 lippy, dropping a "Business card" into a window and fawning all over the cars
I used to live on their 'loop', and it was f*cking miserable during the summer.

The tragic part is that the cars and generally poor driving standards weren't actually the worst part. The most frustrating bit by far was trying to negotiate pavements and zebra crossings three-deep with DSLR-armed virgins, fawning over the supercars.

If the plebs disappeared, so would the cars.
