Any BMW with M sport suspension. Seriously harsh for no good reason that I can work out. I have a Megane R26 daily and while it is stiff it does not cause the same gut wobble as M sport stuff.
Interesting. I have the absolutely opposite view smile I wouldn't buy a BMW without the M-Sport suspension (or, more accurately, the switchable adaptive set up). To me, the standard suspension is wallowy and unbeatably vague.

Goes to show how differently we all perceive cars.

I don't get VWs either. The Golf was the worst super-mini of a few that I tested last year, by quite some margin, and it was also the most expensive.

I have a giant Golf R chip on my shoulder, I don't get it and I don't see the worth in compromising. If I want something fast I want it to look fast, if I want something to ferry life around with me I'll get something that does that job.
My pal has one, it ferries his life while being fast at the same time, and it's going to cost him £6500 to use it for two years.

It's Alfas for me though. The classics are great, but I simply fail to understand how you're not a petrohead unless you've owned a tarted up boggo Fiat. They're style over function (albeit very, very nice style, I'll grant).

I never got Astons. Drove a few. Pretty, not great track cars, do not seem to outperform the competition, seem like more a statement of wealth than an actual driver's car. ( will now descend into my Atomic era bomb shelter to deal with the responsesmile)...

Lamborghinis. I can't afford one, so it's pretty academic, but even if I woke up tomorrow as a billionaire a Lamborghini wouldn't be on my fantasy shopping list.

Lotus Elise/Exige; ugly, underpowered and overrated handling. Seriously overpriced and a warm hatch will show them a clean pair of heals.g

Anything with 'one life live it' on the back.

Modern audi's - all look the same, zero character and once you've got used to their plush interiors then what else is there?

All diesel's driven by folk who do low mileages and brag they get 60mpg when in reality their short trips mean they get just a few more mpg than big engined petrols.

I'd agree with Landrovers - bloody awful things and I had to drive many different versions for most of my working life, why anyone would want one as their daily driver is beyond me. Another one for me is small FIATs. When I was growing up in the 80s anyone with a 500 was ridiculed and rightly so - awful looking, but now apparently 'retro' so 'hip'? Nope, they're still ste in my eyes.

I also prefer the M sport suspension too(minus runflats) I felt like I was piloting a boat around the corners when I drove a 3 series SE.

None of those are 'PH' cars though?

Ferrari F40 - does absolutely nothing for me, weird looking thing. Much prefer the 959.

M135i - I have no urge to own one, and despite what CH said; I'd much prefer an RS3 as a hatchback.

Lotus Esprit

Mate of mine has two. Pig of a thing to drive, willfully uncomfortable inside - i'd get my shins broken by it in an accident.

The volvo thing, I've never sat in a more comfy car. There's downsides to them, quite a few infact, but there's a lot of upsides. They can be quick (2.4/25.t and T5/T6) but overall they're just nice unobtrusive places to be. Nothing offensive. And comfortable.
This. My V60 is perhaps the least PH compared to my previous cars but as Andy says, they are so comfortable and inoffensive that driving it is a welcome change from my typical car choices which make me want to drive fast and shake my bones in the process.

For me, I don't get the M135i - yes it's fast, yes it's capable but I was so excited to get one, having read and heard so much positivity about them. Then, once the new car novelty wore off, I found myself wondering what all the fuss was about.

I don't get off roaders that never go off road or tow heavy loads. I'm not one of those greenies who gets upset because people want to buy them, I just don't get it. From my perspective they're slow, or at least slower than a car would be with the same engine; they don't handle well, or at least they handle worse than they would with a lower ride height and less heavy beefed up componentry; and they cost loads to run in tyres, fuel and things like brake pads, wheel bearings etc. They don't seem to have a single redeeming feature that someone might like for road use - they're a 100% practical vehicle, so when never used for what they were designed for - what's the point? The only thing I can think of is some of them have seven seats for large families and they do drive better than any people carriers I've driven - although personally I'd rather use contraception and buy a four seater like a 5 series!

Incidentally, the Elise/Exige love is because they drive absolutely beautifully. There are prettier cars (in some people's eyes - I personally love the way they look), faster cars and more practical cars and better handling cars, but I've never driven anything that drives anywhere near as well - genuinely - nothing comes even close for any money.

And the MX5? It's a driving and handling thing. Not everyone needs or wants performance.

This is where everyone else goes wrong, if I want a life mobile it's got to be interesting. Any VW is never going to be interesting, to drive or to look at.

If I was forced into just a family car I'd get an Impreza, Aristo, Chaser, Volvo 850, E28/39 etc Vastly more interesting and fun to drive, I'm willing to bet that all but the Japanese will do the same MPG etc than the shopping trolley
I'm not especially interested in the Golf, but in what way are those ANY more interesting?

Depends what you look for in a car. I adore mine - no FWD hatch gets remotely close IMO.

Cars I don't like are:

E46 M3-Very dull and lacks any focus or feel
Audi R8-a 911 will always be better
All Minis-as above but replace '911' with 'Clio'
All Boxsters-as above but replace 'Clio' with 'Elise /Caterham'

Porsche 928 seems to have people fawning whenever a photo gets posted saying things like "one of the best looking cars ever" and "still looks fresh today".
I've never thought of it as anything other than an ugly, dated, ill-proportioned, generally unfortunate-looking fish of a car. No thank you.

Aerial Atom. Not as fast as superbike and you still have to wear a helmet and get wet when it rains whilst stuck in traffic jams the bikes can avoid.

You're wrong about the Discovery by the way. Great cars!

That's true of some Caterhams and Lotuses as well. However getting wet isn't the only reason I don't own a bike!

Alfas never understand how people can rave about them, even the styling isn't appealing.
