I was so close to buying one of these years ago and took one for a test drive and really liked it, everyone I mentioned it to though laughed their heads off at me...so I bottled it and ended up in a Mondeo ST24 but looking back I should have stuck to my guns and gone for one because I never liked the ST24 and sold it after 8 months for a 200sx.

Yes,

A fairly close knitt but welcoming group on a forum who meet fairly regularly. Some fabricate parts for others and some help others with repairs. Nice bunch.
What has Alan Partridge got to do with the Cougar ?

Do you mean the Probe that "Gareth Cheeseman" used in one of the Coogans run episodes, "Dearth of a Saleman" ?

Oh Shed, another half about V6 coupe - good work. The Mondeo underpinnings have greatly improved the Cougar over the previous Probe and I particularly like the Cougar in the Ford racing blue which makes them look a bit like a grown up Racing Puma.

However a real Cougar is a pre 70 carlick
Isn't that basically a Ford Mustang but with slightly different bodywork and rebadged as a Mercury ?

As for this shed... you can at least say to tour mates you have half of an Aston engine under the bonnet !

"if it is a bust module and the symptom is a total absence of ABS function, well, as long as you're an expert driver - and let's face it, on this website who isn't? - there's nothing much to stop you carrying on driving"

The car press regarded the Cougar as a bit of a revelation after the Probe.
It's a long time ago but I remember thinking that the shape of the Fiat Coupe's headlight fairings was more pleasing than those of the Cougar.

Driven a few of them. Not the last word in performance, but the Duratec makes a lovely noise, and they are good to drive. Good shed, but I'm not sure I'd take on the ABS fault without a second opinion first.

The intro is a bit Alastair Campbell. I think I'll read the rest later.

Always liked look of these, something to do with the Ford "Edge" design. Never know why you don't see more modified Cougars out there.
Someone has had a go:

Ah. He's obviously been inspired by the current Ford "Aston Martin" grille style to try to recreate a retro Aston Martin look on his Cougar. With some success.

The headlamp treatment reminds me of:

I had three of these and they were great fun, and a little bit different to look at the time, they where badged as Mecury Cougars in the US and seemed quite polular out there, tempted but probably for nostalic reasons rather than anything else.

The quote sounded incredibly partridge. I chuckled.

Still pass a dark blue one on the way home from work most evenings, which I also used to walk past every day coming home from school (still looks in decent condition as well, shame the same can't be said for the guy who owns it, time hasn't been kind to him)

Did that have an engine in it?

They could have achieved that bonnet line without a boxer flat 4 or flat 6?

The banger crowd love these, it'd be a shame if it ended up getting needlessly smashed to bits on a track.

Possibly so, but it is a good owners' club.

If the idea of a few forum members offering to come round to your house some weekend to help you change an engine because you can't afford a garage bill in exchange for bacon rolls, a few beers and a space on the living room floor to crash on is somehow worthy of ridicule then it's nobody's loss really. They're happy enough smile
