I honestly can't make out if the car looks damaged or if it's just a low res grainy image. I can't make out if it even look like a Leon never mind that I can't see the event stickers down the side of the car like in previous photos of them.
I kind of agree. However, it would wrong to rule it out, as the colour is I think distorted, and the early morning light possibly means it looks darker. It does have more than a hint of old shape Megan about it too. It's almost certainly a 4 door hatch in blue with two guys that match the general description of the two lads, and its there on the road 30 odd minutes before the incident, when there are virtually no other cars around.
What ever the speculation of the car is (Mine is that it is the same car) but those that think not the same car is heading back down at 7.20.
At 7.10 in the exact same spot is a cyclist heading up hill, only one cyclist can be seen through the searching I've done and only one cyclist has come forward as a witness of the Leon car driving very fast.
There are hardly any cars on the road through my searching so this is why my conclusion it is the Leon in the lay-by.
If they have the capability to reduce the time frames then it would be possible to deter who was driving,as the report was they were both thrown from the vehicle. Might make a difference for one of the families but could get worse for the other.

From my huge experience (of watching motorway cops on TV) the pathologist will be able to determine who was sat where from their injuries. Someone bracing themselves against a steering wheel has massively different injuries from someone strapped into a passenger seat, even if they're thrown from the vehicle (not least the friction burn positions of seatbelts being on each shoulder).

Scan left on the webcam to the car park on the opposite side of the hill and drop back to 6.40am.. is this them? I can't work out if this would be a Leon or not. Certainly a black or blue car..
Sitting on a rock(?)
Walking down the footpath
2 people standing next to the car
Click the images to get to the imgur hosting, and then click the picture again to get the original size. This was as far as it would zoom in.
Go back another 10mins to 6:30 and scan left of the car park ( road heading towards you) you'll see headlights coming towards car park Sitting on a rock(?)

This is a very weird thread.

This is perhaps a situations suited to Occam's razor. We've seen the video of them driving inappropriately, close to unguarded precipitous edges on roads that are unsuited to that kind of driving. We've seen they've failed to negotiate a bend on a similar road within a matter of hours, following that video.
If we're reliant on assumptions, the hypothesis with the least of them is the safest. That tends to suggest they continued to drive inappropriately on roads unsuited to it and, unfortunately, a fairly obvious thing happened.
Speculating about mechanical failures, MR2s, the position of the sun or whether a blurry still from a webcam is a Leon or Megane takes you no further, absent any evidence to take you down those avenues.
