I know it's the Mail, I know their readership, but some of the comments leave one aghast.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3173276/Tw...
Such a shame, young lads doing what they loved.

The journalists at the DM are without doubt, hmmmm what's the phrase.... 'Kuntz'.
They're not journalists. They are low-paid media studies graduates paid peanuts to monitor social networking sites and steal, cut and paste anything deemed of interest, rewriting it to a style guide involving every cliche known to manoptimal909 said:
Toyo is the single worst tyre brand I've ever had on any cars I've driven, it was factory fitted on some of my company cars. Poor grip under any conditions.
Once working for the "good handling" car company we've organised a product event featuring competitor vehicles, and on one of those slippery test sections we were planning to demonstrate the usefulness of ESP against a "bad handling" car company's model without ESP.
Then the guests started to come back to report that the car without ESP was much better - tried it, and they were right. The difference?
Car with ESP had Toyo Proxes, the car without ESP Michelin Pilot Exalto...
More expensive tyre performs better, shocking... Age has given me a bit of a phobia about unguarded or badly guarded mountain roads. Didn't bother me in the past but I'm now conscious that a front wheel puncture (or whatever) could have me plunging to an ugly death.
I'm told by locals that guard rails can't be too comprehensive as the snow ploughs need the snow to go over the top of them. Doesn't make much sense to me as they close the passes anyway when the snow gets too bad.
I got caught out one time when I decided to use the Gotthard Pass instead of the tunnel. It's well guarded for most of the way but suddenly the armco stops and is replaced by stone blocks several meters apart. It's probably only for about a kilometer, but why?
Tragic about the lads; I'm sure they were well aware of the risks, but it's horrible for their families.

Sad news, nothing on the forums to sugest he was normally reckless, probably just an enthusiast like us that just miscalculated something

Always makes me terribly upset when I see a forum full of someone excitedly posting about something they are going to do, only for them to lose their life while doing it. All that build up, the looking forward to it, the excitement, and then......
Didn't seem like he was any sort of reckless driver from reading many of his posts on that side...quite the opposite. Seemed comfortable driving all across Europe at a young age so probably a decent driver by all accounts (I know a lot of people who would be terrified of taking their car abroad and driving on the "wrong" side).
These lads were around my age.....so awful.
