Friday night topic - most power through most narrow tyres

The old Sierra Cosworth had 200bhp going through a mighty 205/50 tyre. Yes old skool compounds and 50 profile! The C43 I ran for a while had a 245 rear tyre for 300bhp.

Even a Corsa 1.4 gets 215 nowadays, such is progress. Cough.

So reversing this trend of ever widening tyres, for Friday night which man, or lady, drives a car with skinny tyres and large bhp through the driven wheels?

Is there anyone with more than 200 bhp with less than a 205 for instance?

I am sure there is. Show us your metal. Or rather lack of it.

460hp through a 195/50/15

About 220bhp through 195/50 R15 at the moment, had more on the rollers, but needed to back it off a bit as the fuel pump could not cope.

Not going to beat ^^^^ those then, hoping to get 300bhp eventually.

Technically area of contact has no effect on grip. Obviously cornering and particularly wear benefit from some width.

200hp through the rear wheels of a 1.5+ ton car is very different to 200hp through the front wheels of a car not much over a ton

Years ago when I had a Lancia Delta HF Turbo it was putting (as standard) 140bhp/140 lbft through factory-spec 165 section tyres. Even for the late 80s it was a tad undertyred...

My 550i Touring has ~370/370 going through 245/45/18

Some reason the 18's on the E60/61 aren't staggered, with the 19 inch option running rear 275's on the saloon the touring (from around 2009 onwards) got the front fitment on the back, so still a 245 but 35/19

It does struggle a bit.

kambites, the original HF Turbo I had was FWD only. Later came the 4WD HF Turbo and then finally the Integrale. I couldn't afford an Integrale
