As much as I dislike them in general terms, the R8. In terms of the drive, a rather laughable comparison.
Agreed, bigger footprint, higher weight and 4wd was never going to help, was it ? I found the 1M more fun to drive and more accessible.

Buy the R8 and when you go shopping just park in a parent and child space laugh

You need to explain yourself better. Are you therefore saying those cars you listed aren't supercars either as they're not modified just like the R8? Struggling to work out your logic, or lack of.
It's as clear as day what I was saying. They are standard cars that would make the R8 look like it was going backwards.

You don't know what 'logiic' means, but I have assumed that you are using it as clever-speak for 'meaning' or 'reasoning'.

The problem with the R8 V8 is it feels like its made to fill a market segment more than its competitors do. It's a great all-round package, but does not excel or excite at any one thing. Its no supercar.

Can't be arsed to read the whole thread, but I notice that 911 Turbo S apparently makes the R8 V8 looks like it's going backwards...

...I've owned both and would far rather sit in an R8. It's slower, but so much nicer and more fun to drive.

Out of interest, neither are IMHO a super car. (Stupid term anyway).

And also out of interest, both are blown out of the water by an R500 - which is proper fast. Both 911 and R8 feel like Lancasters to a Spitfire in comparison!

Lastly... if you haven't owned or driven these cars... please stop talking about them like you have the first clue. Ta. wink

So, putting to one side the stuff about how big your balls are, you agree with me? Thanks for that incoherent and self-aggrandising contribution.

Indeed. He still doesn't turn up at the Ring or Spa for a bit of banter and despite promises...

Running a 1M as a daily driver myself, I am slightly biased.....but what I will say, is that every time you pop along to Tesco you will come home either the long way.....or the very long way cloud9

To my eye the R8 suffers in much the same way as Honda's old NSX - supercar performance paired with a disappointing absence of supercar looks.

Porsche make their saloon/SUV look like their sportscar.
Audi make their sportscar look like their saloon/SUV.

Gallardo must be worth a look.

Huh?

R8 looks pretty much like a slightly restrained Lambo to me. Very obviously a performance car.

You really need to look at GetCarters other posts mate. Really! Youre picking the wrong guy to say " big balls" about. Ffs

It is weird though. The equivalent 911, is slower, less interesting in its construction, has a weaker chassis but is somehow more successful wink
I'm sure this will have been posted on here before, but IMHO it's relevant to the discussion:

This is a standard, 'cooking' Porsche - a Carrera S, one generation old - that makes a contemporary R8 look like it's going backwards very quickly (possibly the point of the statement above - not sure if humorous or not)!

That looks a bit extreme. Not sure I buy it given the similarity of 'on paper' numbers. 911s do tend to be faster than the official numbers, but that's a bit silly.

As I have said, though, the V8 R8 is not particularly fast. Perhaps the R-Tronic gearbox is responsible for some of the difference in that video - it certainly isn't as good as PDK.

I seem to remember they raced an early R8 against a 997 C2s on top gear and they were neck and neck. I also agree that does look a bit extreme.

Really ?? I for some reason am under the impression its a serious bit of kit. More than surprised at that to be honest.
