That's what insurance is for.

1M for going to Tesco, just because it'll fit in the parking spaces and have room for the shopping.

1M is only 10cm thinner than an R8, not a vast amount to be honest, but I guess where car doors will open it's thinner again.

Why is this thread marked with the roll eyes?

Love the R8 but as a st-duties daily it'd have to be the 1M.

As much as I dislike them in general terms, the R8. In terms of the drive, a rather laughable comparison.

If i could afford an R8 I reckon i would almost be too scared to take it the shops for fear of it being battered by the thoughtless muppets there, where as the 1M probably not so much.

Either that or haggle a discount on the R8 and use the saving off it for a crappy shed that you can take any where and not worry about it.

I would use the 993, better car than either of those other 2 Playstation generation vehicles. I would also be looking for a nice E46 M3 CSL as and when one becomes available

The R8 is a competent car, just not very exciting to drive. Feels like any other fast Audi, just in a fancy suit.
I can't see the prices going up any time soon.

The 1M is a future classic, a lot of fun to drive and still usable every day.
I hope thats true anyway, as I bought one last week.

Thanks to all for input.
it did actually help in the end.

Two special cars but it's the 1M I think.
It's at least as much fun and probably won't ruin me.

I bought a 08 R8 15 months ago. It too had 16k on the clock at the time of purchase. I have since put 9k miles on it and so far it has cost me a service and £500 to repair a coolant leak. Looking at current values and being an early model im pretty sure it hasn't deprecated much since i bought it.
Im not too familiar with the 1M but having owned an M3 in the past and knowing how ALL M cars values fall faster than lead balloons im surprised to hear about them holding their values. Its true you dont see many around so maybe thats why.

The V8 is a supercar now? Last time I checked, it had a pretty uninspiring engine and wasn't terribly fast smile

There's only 450 UK registered, less than 6500 total, almost all of them LHD.

I wonder why that is? M3s have always sold by the truck load over here. Theyre a great car too by all accounts.
